With a superb script from Raymond Chandler,George Marshall's thriller just needed a bit more noir in the direction to make it a true classic and back up the wonderful performances from Alan Ladd,William Bendix and Veronica Lake. The plot is very twisty,a naval hero(Ladd)returns home to find his faithless wife partying up.When she's murdered,he naturally becomes the prime suspect. If the climax seems a bit unrewarding, blame they US Navy.As they vetoed the original choice of killer.

7/10

There are two earlier Ladd/Lake films worth seeing,This Gun For Hire & The Glass Key

Iron Man 3, to be honest I thought the film was ok, i loved the first film it was up there being one of my fav super hero films, the second one so so.
Don't get me wrong the main cast are fantastic Robert Downey JR was born to play Tony Stark/Iron Man, Gweyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle fantastic. I loved the action scenes and special effects were just amazing the problem I had with the movie were the story and the villains. The villians I felt were just weak and the so called twist was a joke and story didn't feel that strong and at times felt almost slap stick and am a massive Iron Man fan always have been since I was child. 6.9/10.

A Christmas Carol(1938)

Edwin L.Marin's version of the classic tale stars Reginald Owen, who is wonderful as Scrooge as is Leo G.Carroll, playing the ghost of Jacob Marley. The film also has some very good optical effects which have held up quite well.Generally considered not to be as good as the more famous 1951 Alistair Sim version(which is correct)Marin's film is still beautifully shot and does justice to Dickens' book.

7.5/10

The Dead Lands(2014) A son of Maori chieftain vows revenge on the rival tribe that killed most of his tribe. Inventively filmed, with a strong emphasis on spiritualism, with much crossing over between dream worlds and reality, and the dead and the living, this is occasionally puzzling. The fight scenes feel authentic. Starring James Rolleston, Lawrence Makoare,Te Kohe Tuhaka, Xavier Horan, Raukura Turai & Rena Owen. 7/10

You Pay Your Money(1957)

Another quality crime drama from McLean Rogers.A rouge smuggler's world is turned upside down when his wife is kidnapped by a rival mob of criminals..With top performances from Hugh McDermott,Jane Hylton and a gorgeously young Honour Blackman.

Scrooge(1970)

A great cast including Albert Finney as Scrooge can't save Ronald Neame's musical version of the Christmas Carol story.Filled with mostly terrible songs with the one exception."Thank You Very Much" sung by a man dancing on Scrooge's coffin.Unfortunately it's too little, too late.
