The Babadook (2014) An Australian horror film about a widow (Essie Davis) and her son (Noah Wiseman) who has severe behavioural problems. He creates a monster, The Badabook, but there may be some truth in it. There are some horror staples in this film, but quite a bit of fairly original stuff, including scenes of quiet within the horror, alongside clever cinematography. The best thing, however is the mother/son relationship, touching and real. Their performances are superb, especially Davis, who's character changes as does the mood of the film. There aren't really any heart thudding scary moments, but no dull ones either. Also starring Daniel Henshall,Hayley McElhinney,Barbara West Craig Behanna & Cathy Adamek. 7.5/10

Pushover(1954) Following a bank heist, the bank robber's moll and an undercover cop plan to steal the dough and flee. A solid lean film noir/ thriller clocking in at under an hour and a half with sharp/shadowy night time cinematography, some witty hardboiled lines and plenty of clever twists. Decent performances from Fred McMurray,Kim Novak, E G Marshall, Dorothy Malone, Philip Carey & Allen Nourse. 7/10

Arrival (2016) More plus points than minuses, a superb performance from Amy Adams, she's given a comprehensive backstory by the scriptwriters and doesn't miss a note. Jeremy Renner & Michael Stuhlberg stand out too. The story line/plot is clever, quite in depth and though occasionally complicated and sometimes went over my head.I liked the look of the aliens and their spacecraft. The ending although pretty ingenious, does stretch credibility a bit, and there's an occasional slide into sentimentality. Also starring Forest Whitaker. 7/10

The Millionairess(1960)

A comedy from Anthony Asquith with Peter Sellers. This was supposedly the first big hit of his career at the box office.Sophia Loren's inheritance makes her the world's richest woman, but getting the money comes with a catch. Also starring Alistair Sim,who as usual is superb in every scene.

7/10

Despicable Me(2010) Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, aiming to be the biggest villian in the world, adopts three orphan girls to use them to carry out his evil plans, however their charms start to bring out the good in him. Amusing animation, with some jokes for the benefit of adults, including some digs at the big banks! I found the Minions annoying, however. Other voices include Jason Segal,Russell Brand,Julie Andrews,Will Arnett & Kristen Wiig. 6.5/10

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince(2009) Two main threads in the sixth instalment, hormones are raging for our heroes, and we learn much of Voldemort's early life. The second thread is especially interesting as leads to a very dramatic climax. Notable cast members include Jim Broadbent as Professor Slughorn & Jessie Cave as Lavender Brown, Ron's love interest(called him my Won Won!). Credit must go to cast regular Tom Felton as Malfoy who puts in a very strong, complex performance in this film. 7.5/10

The Las Vegas Story (1952) A film noir in which a singer (Jane Russell) returns to the Las Vegas nightclub she played in, accompanied by her husband (Vincent Price). When there's a murder, the investigating cop (Victor Mature) happens to be an old flame. The plot/murder mystery is nothing special, the best parts are the tensions between Russell's & Mature's character in which Mature is his usual underplayed way wins the acting honours. Price gets some cynical lines & Hoagy Carmichael as the club pianist has a few wisecracks and plays some standards, including My Resistance Is Low. There are also some strikingly shot desert scenes. Also starring Brad Dexter,Jay C Flippen, Will Wright,Colleen Miller & Chester Marshall. 6.5/10

Killer Bitch... absolutely terrible movie... so bad i gave up watching after 20 mins and skipped through the rest of it...
the highlight... seeing camilla jayne and seeing cindy behr stab the fuck outa ben dover.

cast: all the acting was on a par with a juniour school play (a really bad 1)
story: what story?... it was just a bunch of ex ganstaz doing the best travis bickle or tony soprano impressions.
rating: 1/10 thats being generous, and only because Camilla was in it.

Any Babe pics posted are my Take on existing photographs. credits for the original images stays with the copyright holder if any rights apply.

Hitman: Agent 47 - 6/10.

Not as shit as I thought it was going to be, as there were some cool moments.
Some films you switch off, some you regret watching, but this one was an okay waste of time.
