Risen (2010) The true story of Welsh featherweight boxer Howard Winstone who despite losing three fingers in an work accident early in his career went on to have a successful career. An independantly made film that unfortunately has a cheap look like a made for TV movie or drama. The fight scenes don't really grip like other boxing films, partly again the way they are shot, either on the cheap or deliberately arty. Stuart Brennan is believable in the main role, and Shane Richie supplies a charismatic supporting role as a boxing promoter. Also starring John Noble,Grainne Joughin,Boyd Clack,Helen Griffin & Simon Phillips. 5/10

Don't Breathe, It is an home invasion gone wrong and a huge sadistic twist. It is done by fede alvarez who did the new evil dead film. it has the same style and intense atmosphere has evil dead. Jane levy stars in both films and was great in both. 8/10

Evil Dead Trilogy, a good hammer style horror with some good genuine laughs in it, bruce Campbell was great in them and still doesn't miss a beat in the tv series.

Evil Dead (2014) a soft reboot of the series with homages to the original dotted throughout the film but it manages to tell its own story and bring something new to the series.

Goldfinger

The best Bond ?
When did Bond stop wearing a hat in the title sequence ? ( still does it at the beginning of this one )
Why doesn't Odd Job just kill Bond 20 minutes in, instead of merely knocking him out by the fridge ? Would have saved him a lot of bother later on.
Took me a long time to twig that Sneaker Pimps had sampled the score for "6 Underground" , from the bit where Bond finds Shirley Eaton covered in gold paint.

Harry Potter And the Philosopher's Stone(2001) The first in the series as Harry leaves his sad life with his cruel uncle, aunt & cousin and starts at Hogwarts. Lots of J K Rowlings ideas look good on film, Platform 9 3/4 , Quidditch, the chess game and a talented cast bring the characters to life, a few examples Daniel Ratcliffe is perfect as Harry, Emma Watson as the bossy, knowledgeable but likeable Hermoine, and two villains, Alan Rickman as Professor Snape & Tom Felton as Malfoy. 7.5/10

Cemetery Man[aka Dellamorte Dellamore](1994)

An interesting story from Michele Soavi about the caretaker of a cemetery in a small Italian town and his mentally handicapped friend who try to cope with dead who refuse to stay in the ground. With excellent performances from Anna Falchi(as a zombie)and Rupert Everett as her grieving lover.

8/10

Spotlight

Excellent film. Best I've seen in quite some time.

True story of Boston journalists that broke the story about Catholic church covering up paedophile scandals.

Left me a little angry, to be honest, about the fact that all of UK investigative journalism has been reduced to the entrapment of football managers and an unhealthy obsession with FIFA. C'mon fellas ... there are more important things in this world. Do your jobs.
