Keeping Rosy (2014) A businesswoman's life unravels, both work and home wise. Starts off as a thriller, using a familiar storyline done better in other films, then turns into a drama, then reverts to a thriller, this last part being the most successful. Maxine Peake does her best with an unsympathetic character who's background information is given out too late in the film.Blake Harrison & Christine Bottomley are pretty good too. Also starring Sam Hoare & Elisa Lasowski. 5/10

The Princess Bride(1987)

Blending fantasy, romance, action and comedy seamlessly,Rob Reiner's film sees Westley(Cary Elwes)set out to rescue the love of his life, Princess Buttercup(Robin Wright)from the clutches of the evil Prince Humperdinck(Chris Sarandon).Straight away the film's warm heart shines through, backed up by the adventure packed, fairytale style with a post modern commentary on the hoary conventions of such a tale. The film also adds numerous cameos from comedy legends such as Peter Cook,Billy Crystal,Christopher Guest and Mel Smith without loosing any of its purity. Also featuring great work from Mandy Patinkin and Andre "The Giant" Rusimoff as the other two heroes and Peter Falk as the loveable grandfather reading the story to his poorly grandson,a young Fred Savage.Almost unbelievable to comprehend that this classic film was considered a flop on its original release.

8.5/10

Last Vegas (2013)

A funny and heart warming tale about four old friends who go on a stag weekend to Vegas. It is perhaps best described as a over 70's version of the hangover

Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) The arrival of a new baby to a family sees the start of supernatural occurrences. Pretty dull prequel to an overrated first film.Starring Sprague Grayden,Brian Boland,Mollie Ephriam with Katie Featherston & Micah Sloat reprising their first film roles. 4/10

Hardware(1990)

One of the better robot/cyborg rip offs that came out to cash in on the success of The Terminator and Robocop.Richard Stanley's Hardware takes the tech noir of James Cameron's film and the cyberpunk credentials and the corporate suspicion of Paul Verhoeven's film to create a carnage ridden trip through a future London.Acknowledging the influence,Richard Stanley cast RoboCop 3 star Robert Burke in his next film,Dust Devil(which isn't as good as this).

Everlasting Moments (2008) The female narrator recalls her childhood in early 20th century Sweden, specifically her often drunk father and a mother who found refuge in a camera she won in a lottery. A sublime slice of family life, against a background of a war, industrial disputes and the strong Temperance Movement. Maria Heiskanen is superb as the mother and Mikael Persbrandt is very good as the father. Also starring Jesper Christensen, Callin Ohrvall & Emil Jensen 7.5/10

Amadeus(1984)

Milo Forman's adaptation of Peter Shaffer's play about the musical legend and the forces that may have destroyed him.Featuring two amazing performances,Tom Hulce as the sometimes idiotic but blessed Wolfgang and F Murray Abraham as his bitter rival,Antonio Salieri.Abraham won a well deserved Oscar for creating one of cinema's great wronged men.
