Fast and Furious 7 - 5/10 good action and stunts but far too predictable and silly.

Batman : Dead End(2003)

Sandy Collera wrote and directed this superb short film which he also managed to bankroll for $30,000 and film in just four days.The story is simple,Batman(Clark Bartram)hears that the Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum and quickly picks up his trail,catches him and is ready to take him in when from out of nowhere,a xenomorph from the Alien franchise snatches the Joker.Batman is then pounced on by the creature only to witness it killed by a hunter from the Predator franchise.Realising he is dealing with a worthy foe,the hunter has a brutal fight with Batman,who manages to kill the creature only to realise he is in the middle of a hord of aliens and a clan of predators which are both,rapidly advancing on him.How will he escape?
An utterly brilliant short proving once again that the right talent can make effective and enjoyable films without throwing money and CGI at everything.

Star Trek Beyond, now this is what you call a summer blockbuster, what's so great about this film and so difficult to put into words is it feels like classic Star Trek. The crew are given more screen time and even partnered with different crew members which actually brings something fresh to the table. Chris Pine is amazing Captain Kirk, along with Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban pretty much nearly steals the show as McCoy, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Zoe Saldana, the late Anton Yelchin fantastic. Sofia Boutella was fantastic as Jaylah who kicked ass along with Idris Elba as Krall who was menacing, the rest of actors were perfect The film had the right blend of action, humour and a strong plot mixed with amazing special effects.
My only couple negative things were that all tho Idris Elba did a great peformance the villian did feel a little average and I think they could done better with fleshing out his story and past and given us more of a motivation as to why he carried out his actions which I feel would have helped more with his character all tho there is a massive twist with his character in the third act of the film.
I also liked how they paid tribute Leonard Nimoy and to Anton Yelchin, there are a couple Easter Eggs but with out spoiling then of course there's a nod to 2 Star Trek shows one you'll see on the planet when they crash and class of the ship and watch the video playback the uniforms look familiar from a certain Star Trek show and the second Easter Egg is to do with Spock at the end it's a nod to Star Trek show more so certain Star Trek film which I felt being the 50th anniversary was great touch. I highly recommend people seeing this you'll love it, roll on Jason Bourne, Suicide Squad and Doctor Strange. 9.2/10.

Couple more Easters eggs with spoiling anything listen out for the name of the female commodore who could be related to another character from a Star Trek series. There Easter Eggs from every Star Trek including Star Trek Enterprise and if your familar with series then you'll recognise very familar stuff. There is something familar from the Star Trek next gen you can't miss it, as far as I know nothing from DS9 and there's some stuff from the original series and films. As I said in my previous post it's probably to do with the 50th anniversary.

The Ruling Class(1972)

Peter O'Toole stars as the 13th Earl of Gourney,completely bonkers in Peter Medak's fabulous film.Believing himself to be God,he is cured by The Electric Messiah(Nigel Green)and becomes Jack The Ripper!
Another English film about class,this one ends with zombies in the House Of Lords.Written by the great Peter Barnes,based on his own play.

The Dead Zone(1983)

A brilliant collaboration between two maestros of horror,director David Cronenberg and author Stephen King.The Dead Zone was predetermined to be on of the most haunting films of the decade.Putting physical horror aside in favour of King's tender yet powerful tale of Johnny Smith,a psychic who encounters a politician who is destined to start World War Three.Chilling and thought provoking throughout, the film is brought to life by Christopher Walken,whose strange and sympathetic central performance is as entrancing as the visions experienced by Johnny Smith.Also featuring a devilishly deranged turn by Martin Sheen as treacherous President to be Greg Stlison.

An excellent film, and one I must get on DVD. I have it on vhs which is pretty useless as I no longer have a vhs player.

A good version of it came out a while ago on DVD,I'll let you know if I see it for a good price.

Escape from Alcatraz (1979)

Clint Eastwood at his best in an absolute classic film. My HD recording off 4 HD looks so much sharper and more atmospheric than my old DVD.
