Narrowing Circle(1955)

A very good crime drama directed by Charles Saunders.A magazine crime writer(Paul Carpenter)is passed over for promotion by a rival who is then murdered, leaving him in in the frame. With great work from Hazel Court.

The Brain That Wouldn't Die(1962)

After his girlfriend is critically injured in a car accident,Dr Bill Cortner played brilliantly by Jason Evers keeps her head alive in his basement while he searches for a voluptuous body to replace the one she lost in the accident. An outrageous film with a twisted premise directed by Joseph Green.

Lady Of Deceit(1947)

An excellent crime drama from director Robert Wise about a scheming and calculating divorcee who risks everything by getting into a relationship with a short tempered murderer.Claire Trevor and Laurence Tierney both put in great performances.

Leaves Of Grass (2009) Edward Norton turns in impressive and varied performances as twins, one a college professor and one a drug dealer, who involves his professor twin in his criminal schemes. The storyline is a bit thin, and the comedy element just isn't funny enough, but the relationship between the professor Norton & his girlfriend, played by Keri Russell is nicely done, and there's a fine supporting role from Susan Sarandon,as the twins' mother. A good country rock soundtrack too. Also starring Richard Dreyfuss & Maggie Siff 6/10

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein(1948)

The last gasp of the classic Universal monsters. The studio threw Dracula(Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein's monster(Glenn Strange),The Wolfman(Lon Chaney Jr)and the invisible man(Vincent Price) into the pot.Even though this is a comedy, director Charles Barton made this with total respect for all the monsters and it is a very handsome and enjoyable production.

Pompeii 5/10 - average swords and sandals movie which tries to be gladiator and earthquake rolled into one but fails on both fronts, decent special effects though.

Syriana(2005) Written & directed by Stephen Gaghan a thriller with an ensemble cast, including George Clooney,Matt Damon, Jeffrey Wright, Mark Strong, Christopher Plummer, Amanda Peet and Alexander Siddiq with many strands showing how the oil industry in an unnamed Middle East country affects, often negatively, different groups of people around the world. Despite the talent and intelligence involved, I found this over complicated and occasionally a bit dull. 5.5/10
