RE: Last film you watched
Three more
Deep Red (1975) another Dario Argento film, as much as a suspense as a horror film, as a musician (David Hemmings) and a journalist (Daria Nicolodi) investigate the killing of a physic. Perhaps slightly overlong but the horror are set pieces are excellent and Hemmings and Nicolodi make a charismatic team 7/10

Man In The Attic (1953) in Victorian England a landlady suspects her tenant in the attic(Jack Palance) may be Jack The Ripper. Palance is the best thing in this, some of the acting is underwhelming and there's been better Ripper films 4.5/10

Bloody Sunday (2002) a documentary drama concerning the killing of Northern Irish citizens by the army in 1972. Slightly confusing at times( perhaps mirroring the way events unfolded) but with a definite bias against the army, however this is how history sees this story. Probably the best thing I've seen James Nesbitt in playing the local peace loving MP with Tim Pigott-Smith as the arrogant army commander. Directed by Paul Greengrass 7/10

Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice(2016)

Brilliantly staged action and fight sequences are the order of the day but what else would you expect?

I'll not give much away as I don't want to spoil it for anyone but in my opinion this is one of the better superhero/comic book adaptations I've seen.Well paced and a very strong performance from Ben Affleck as an older, wiser Bruce Wayne/Batman takes centre stage.Henry Cavil has to be commended also for again capturing the essence of who Superman is supposed to be.Overall, very enjoyable especially if you're fan of both of the characters. If you're not, then it won't offer anything for you.

8/10

(Edit)

I forgot to mention Jessie Eissenberg as Lex Luther is also very good, putting a different take on the character from Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey.

Onibaba(1964)

In feudal Japan,a mother and daughter murder passing samurai for their valuable armour and dispose of the bodies in a pit.The mother becomes jealous of her daughter's affair with their male partner in crime. To frighten her,she dons a demon mask but is then unable to remove it.A violent, brutal film from Kaneto Shindo with an outstanding performance from Nobuko Otowa as the tormented mother.

Anzio (1968) The American's costly 1944 landing at Anzio, Italy with the objective to take Rome. Tense and exciting and benefiting from focussing on a small group of soldiers with well staged skirmishes. Starring Robert Mitchum, Robert Ryan, Arthur Kennedy, Peter Falk and Earl Holliman. 6.5/10

The Victors (1963) another war film, focussing on a small regiment of US soldiers throughout WW2, including Sicily, the UK, France, Belgium and Berlin. What marks it out as different is its episodic framework, and includes war and social scenes. Starring George Peppard, George Hamilton and Eli Wallach with early roles for Peter Fonda and Albert Finney 7.5/10

A Farewell To Arms (1932) an American ambulance driver and an English nurse fall in love in a rather dull version of Ernest Hemingway's novel. Starring Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes 4.5/10

Q,the Winged Serpent(1982)

The Aztec god Quetzalcoatl is living at the top of the Chrysler Building in Manhattan and snatching people off roof tops to eat them.A petty crook played brilliantly by Michael Moriarty, discovers the monster's lair and wants the city officials to pay him for the information. With great work from Richard Roundtree and stop motion animation by David W Allen and Randy Cook,Larry Cohen's film is a bizzaro experience and very enjoyable.

The Keep(1983)

Michael Mann directs, based on the novel of the same name by Paul F Wilson.Set during World War Two,German soldiers occupy a citadel in Romania in which a malevolent demon dwells. Some genuine creepy moments and nice make up effects make it worthwhile. With Ian McKellen.

Operation Daybreak (1975) An interesting true story as Czechs(played Martin Shaw, Anthony Andrews and Timothy Bottoms) return to their homeland in 1942 attempting to assassinate SS-General Reinhard Heydrich, head of the Nazi security services. Anton Diffring plays Heydrich one of the many Nazi roles he played, ironically he fled Germany in 1939. 7/10

Il Generale Della Rovere (1959) A fascinating story directed by Roberto Rossellini of Bardone, an Italian petty con man, is arrested by the Gestapo and coerced into impersonating a partisan leader in order to expose a resistance organizer. Vitterio De Sica is excellent as Bardone a character who finds his principles as the film develops 7.5/10

The Magdalene Sisters (2002) a grim tale of the inmates of a Magdalene Sisters Asylum in the 1960s who faced dehumanising and sadistic treatment from Catholic nuns, based on a true story, supposedly the true story was grimmer. Anne-Marie Duff and Nora-Jane Noone as the inmates and Geraldine McEwan as the Sister. Eileen Walsh as a deeply troubled and traumatised inmate probably steals the acting hounours 7.5/10

Drunken Master(1978)

You're never far from a fight scene in this classic comedy from Yeun Woo Ping, the director of Snake in the Eagle's Show.Eager young action man Jackie Chan earned a lot of fans with this one.Raising hell and kicking his way through everything in his path as legendary martial artist Wong Fei Hung(1847-1924)a real life Chinese superhero(and subject of more than a hundred films)whose early life is reinvented in this none stop fight fest.
