Remember The Titans, one of my all time fav films, all tho am not a massive American Football fan I loved how a sport could unite people of different creeds and stand and unite against racism and a find and unite together for a common passion sport. 9.3/10.

The Martian

Very enjoyable film, with an outstanding performance from Matt Damon as the central character.

9/10

The Duelists(1976)

Ridley Scott's debut picture showed a stylish flair that would later become his trademark.Fabulously shot and framed, featuring a strong turn from Harvey Keitel.

House of Horrors(1946)

Martin Krosleck is the insane sculptor who exploits Rando Hatton as the Creeper to do his evil bidding.Hatton suffered from acromegaly,a disorder of the pituitary gland. His increasing deformity gave him a career in films playing heavies and eventually a character called the Creeper in this and some other films.Jean Yarborough directed this atmospheric effort.

The Thing From Another World(1951)

Christian Nyby directs but its Howard Hawks who produced that pulled the strings on this classic sci fi effort based on the original short story "Who Goes There?" by John W Campbell,JR.It features Hawk's trademark overlapping dialogue and multiple actors in shot at the same time.
Unfortunately, due to budget constraints and the technology available at the time the shape shifting element of the creature is lost, they simply but 6ft 7" actor James Arness in a suit and had him rampage through the facility. Some effective scares here and there and a good, charismatic turn by leading man Kenneth Tobey.George A Romero once described this film as "a movie about doors." because you are never sure what is lurking behind each one.
The score by Dimitri Tiomkin is superb also.

Once Upon A Time in America(1984)

After his famed spaghetti westerns,Sergio Leone tried his hand at what would be his last, biggest challenge,a 220 minute gangster saga.Beginning in 1968 with Robert De Niro's Jewish hood Noodles returning to New York after three decades away, the film cuts back in time to highlight key periods in his life.De Niro gives one of his best performances without the help of Scorsese, while James Woods produces real menace as Max.A striking story of loyalty, love, friendship and ambition.

The Monuments Men 5/10 very disappointing war movie with an all star cast, an uneasy mix of comedy and drama which does not really work.

Pride + Prejudice + Zombies(2016)

Based on the excellent novel written by Seth Graham Smith in 2009,director Burr Steers for the most part, manages to mix the brilliantly staged action sequences with some genuinely funny moments.Towards the end though, things get a bit repetitive and stale.
