RE: Last film you watched
just finished watching "The Revenant".
first impression, I'd say 7,5. I would describe it as a movie of great visual and emotional impact .Some scenes are very rough, I didn't expect that, but this contributes to the realism of the movie IMO..

year after year after year, I keep reading that the shows were better "in the past"... maybe they were never that great (except in the pioneering era)?

Eagle eye (2008) 8.5/10

An enjoyable watch and well put together, an excellent plot if even it was a little too far fetched.

Now You See Me (2013) a noisy, over the top, occasionly clever magician heist type movie, also not helped by the magician characters being smug and arrogant especially the one played by Jesse Essenberg 4.5/10

9 (2009)

Bit of a clichéd premise but still very enjoyable.Animated adventure set in an apocalyptic future. After humanity is decimated by the world's machines a group of stitchpunks created by a scientist begin a mission to salvage the legacy of civilization.

Voices provided by Elijah Wood,John C Reilly,Jennifer Connelly and Christopher Plummer. It also has a great score from Danny Elfman.

8/10

Troll Hunter(2010)

Tremendous fun this, even the old hand held, lost footage doesn't hold it back. With some surprisingly effective,CGI trolls and some black humour this is a lesson in how good low budget film making can be.

Leaving Las Vegas(1995) a strongly acted piece as a washed up screenwriter played by Nicholas Cage and a lonely prostitute, Elisabeth Shue form a friendship in Las Vegas. Inventively directed by Mike Figgis, Cage won an Oscar 7.5/10

Technically this is a documentary, but I just watched a thing I taped in late 1999 from channel 4 about Ray Harryhausen.

It documented his career from his debut to his final film. Some great contributions from Joe Dante,James Cameron,Stan Winston and Dennis Muren.Absolutely brilliant stuff. What a wonderful legacy he left on film for us to enjoy.
