Silent Running

Brilliant performance from Bruce Dern in this absolute classic sci fi masterpiece.

Someone To Watch Over Me (1987) an exciting thriller directed by Ridley Scott with Tom Berenger as a cop who falls for murder witness, Mimi Rogers, who he's a bodyguard for. Berenger is excellent, Rogers fine, while there's an early role for the fabulous Lorraine Bracco as Berenger's wife. An interesting soundtrack too, Jazz, including the title song, classical and some 80s pop 7/10

War and Peace, the 1956 version with Audrey Hepburn, Mel Ferrer and Henry Fonda. Not as good as the book but how could anything be as good as the book? A decent enough film in its own right though.

Raging Bull (1980) It shows something of the skill of Scorcese and De Niro that this film about a massively unsympathetic character is so riveting. The violence in and out the ring is brutal and there's top performances from Cathy Moriarty as Jake La Motta's long suffering wife and Joe Pesci( slightly more restrained than usual) as his brother. 8.5/10

The Flight of Dragons(1982)

Bought it off eBay.I had it on tape as a kid but lost it years ago.

Based on the book by Peter Dickinson.

Apart from a few changes from the book and some slightly dodgy animation here and there,it still holds up pretty well.Forgot how dark it is too.Great voice work from James Earl Jones and the late Harry Morgan.I'm surprised this hasn't been made into a live action film with sword and scorcery being so popular at the moment.

Stripes (1981) a so so Army comedy starring Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, not one of Murray's best 5/10

Django Unchained- 2012, Directed by Quentin Tarantino, with Jamie Foxx, Cristoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel Jackson

6,5-7

Never Liked Tarantino's style, to be honest. I watched this movie anyway, mainly for Jamie Foxx and the positive reviews. It's quite enjoyable, but again...not a fan of Tarantino at all...the subject it's interesting though

year after year after year, I keep reading that the shows were better "in the past"... maybe they were never that great (except in the pioneering era)?

Sicario 7.5/10

Some good bits, but not exactly the most captivating film you'll likely to see.
