'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty' with Ben Stiller. What a load of rubbish! It didn't capture me in any manner whatsoever. Boring, no real plot to it. Why take the middle third of the "story" and set it in Iceland? Then, we were only given a very brief view of the spectacular Icelandic scenery.

This is one to avoid.

The Right Stuff 9/10 Long but classic movie that I always enjoy, charting the early pioneering days of the US space programme.

Fear (1996)

Mark Wahlberg is the boyfriend from hell who terrorizes innocent Reese Witherspoon after charming his way in to her family circle. Hugely predictable, it's filled with over the top menace which we'd seen and have since seen, far too many times. Nothing new - Wahlberg's had some duds as an actor - this sadly was one of them - and although I suppose it passed a couple of hours when I couldn't sleep on Sunday night, the problem is it makes you want to laugh at times which isn't a very good review of it's title. Iron Sky, Is about Nazis who try to take over the world in the future but come back to earth from the moon, I quite like it. Also has Julia Dietze in who I think is really hot Smile

R.I.P.D. 7/10.

Seems like one of those committee-put-it- together concepts, you can almost imagine the pitch :
"It's a buddy movie but with a twist - think Men In Black mashed with Ghost".
Shouldn't really work but it kinda does and Jeff Bridges is good value : the pairing up of him with Ryan Reynolds is the fun of the movie, in the same way MIB hung on the double act of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
Kevin Bacon is in scenery chewing villain mode.
Ryan Reynolds has the thankless task of trying to avoid teetering into Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore territory but just about manages to keep the schmaltz of that concept at bay and the plot mercifully doesn't dwell on that too much.

And of course for the eye candy Marisa Miller as Bridges' "disguise" and Mary Louise Parker in that little skirt and those white boots - "hiding her ankles" as Bridges grumbles Wink Tongue
