An old film from 1970 called 'The out of towners' starring Jack Lemmon.
8/10. Quite amusing.

Oblivion

I'm going to have to disagree with Lancelot's review. I thought this sucked - and sucked big time. One of the biggest piles of crap I've seen in recent times - and I couldn't wait for it to end. Too long, too complicated. A few good flashing light sequences doesn't compensate for a ludicrous story. It is of course up to you, but I'd advise you to save your money. 0/5

I,m sorry you did not like the movie but i thought it was an intelligent thoughtful film, well acted with some good action sequences. It was perhaps a little too long and could have done with losing maybe 15 minutes off the running time but apart from that i have no complaints about it. I watched the movie with a group of friends and they also enjoyed it, but i guess if everybody liked the same thing then life would be really boring.

No need to apologize! You liked it, I thought it sucked - I genuinely wanted it to end after the first half an hour. Absolutely hated it, and other people in the cinema room were of the same opinion. Fair enough, people like different films. Smile

Star Trek (2009)

Finally got chance to watch this reboot - and I enjoyed it. The new cast are well suited to the roles, while still retaining all the much loved mannerisms of the original cast. Especially enjoyed Karl Urban as Dr Leonard 'Bones' McCoy - "Damnit man! I'm a doctor not a physicist!" Big Grin

4/5

Evil Dead (remake) really good remake/reboot of the classic 80's horror film. Pretty much follows the plot of the original where a group of young adults go to a cabin in the middle of nowhere, find the book of the dead and unwittingly unleash evil on themselves

special effects are very good, bloody & gory along with very strong language with some looking through your fingers moments. Also some nice nods to the original evil dead

The ending does leave it open for a sequel

8/10

The Place Beyond The Pines

Decent performances from Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper in this crime/cop interweaving family drama. It starts slowly, builds up nicely to a decent middle section, but then tails off with a disappointing final hour, plus you don't have to be Einstein to figure out what's going to happen plot wise about three quarters of the way through the movie. Too overlong and a let down overall. 6/10
