That and the fact the governing body is as corrupt as an Italian prime minister Big Grin

FIFA don't have any votes in the team of the year awards. Only the players themselves are allowed to vote, so your talk about FIFA wanting to promote something is irrelevant. You can insult FIFA as much as you like, but the players selected were voted for by their fellow professionals. It should be pointed out that nobody within FIFA has a vote in the Ballon d'Or either.

I did not mention anything about Fifa voting in the team of the year awards. My post was making the point that in my opinion Fifa quite simply appear to favour flamboyant individual skills over solid team performance as the epitome of footballing success.

Maybe people haven't forgotten. Maybe they just don't agree with you.

You say that players from Corinthians of Brazil should have received votes, but in the Ballon d'Or none of the Brazilian votes went to anyone playing for Corinthians or to anyone playing in Brazil. Even if you take the votes from the whole of South America there's still only one Brazilian based player who was listed, and that was Neymar who got only 1 vote and plays for Santos not Corinthians.

There were only 5 players who got any significant number of votes from South America and they were (in order) Messi, Ronaldo, Falcao, Xavi and Iniesta. The others who got votes from South America were Neymar as already mentioned, plus Aguero, Drogba, Ibrahimovic, Pirlo, Casillas and Neuer. Only Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Imbrahomovic and Falcao got votes from Brazil.

No offence mate but I don't need schooling about brazillian football, I probably know a lot more about it than most people on here including you, no disrespect to anybody either i've followed it all my life.

I don't actually know what your going on about. I wasn't arguing the facts of who voted for who ect, I was just saying it's unfair that players who have achieved a lot more than bigger names who haven't really done anything worthy don't get a look in because of FIFA's constant gloryfying of La Liga which is probably the most predictive league in the world bar Scotland

Congratulations to Bradford for a fine performance in beating Aston Villa 3-1 in the first leg of the League Cup.

I think the tie is still in the balance, but if Bradford defend like they did tonight and against Arsenal and also providing their goalkeeper Matt Duke continues his impressive performances in this competition then they stand a great chance of reaching the final.

Didn't see the game tonight but surprised to see Bradford score three!! I have seen them play Aldershot season after season since they've been in League 2 and never thought they looked that great. I know the magic of the cup etc, but to stick 3 past a Premier League side is frankly embarrassing.

Fair play to Bradford, at least they've given it a good go. I wonder how long until a Championship side takes a gamble on Wells ?

From a neutral point of view, I want Bradford to reach the final and win it.

RE: Football Banter
if Swansea do win it, won't they be only the second welsh team to win a major cup competition? I was gobsmacked Bradford even put three past Villa!!
It wasn't that long ago that Bradford were in the premiership!!
Maybe what would help the Bantams, would be Chelsea battering Villa again!! (That'll do wonders for Villa's confidence for the second leg!)Tongue
