Come on groundnpound we aren't forgetting the World Cup are we ? WinkRolleyes

My 2pence for what it's worth is yes, he is a good player. He is a decent football with great foot work, his finishing is suspect as he misses as many as he scores, but then so does Adebayor and he looks a decent player at Spurs. A top player for Liverpool.
As for the diving, yes he does. Like you say so do most players these days, it is the way football has become. Sure he does get battered at the same time but if he was world class then he would find a way round it. Look at Messi, people kick the shit out that guy and he still runs rings round them. Go even further back to the likes of Pele and George Best and you got players who would lunge in two footed, leg breakers and them guys kept going. Saurez in comparison, and much like most foreign players in the EPL go down like a sack of shit!

As for referee's protecting him, behave! That is an embarrassing thing to say. When Fergie said the same about Ronaldo it was laughed at big time by fans of pretty much every other club. Ref's shouldn't show any bias at all so protection is complete nonsense. Players like Saurez, Torres, Drogba, Ronaldo, Eboue and the like get what they deserve when they throw themselves everywhere. Unfortunately mud sticks!

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

RE: Football Banter
Players going hard at him doesn't mean he needs to throw himself to the ground all the time.

Any notion that he doesn't dive is crazy, he is becoming notorious for it, its more than likely the reason players go hard at him now, so there's am actual reason for him to go to ground. He play acts with the best of them.

The irritating thing about this whole debate is that you say he doesn't do it any more than the next man - that doesn't mean he doesn't dive, just means he is as much as a diver as Drogba, Ronaldo,Eboue, Pires etc. It's cheating, and it's stupid, and needs to be cut out. But we won't get anywhere if coaches/fans blindly defend their players for it, especially as they will be the first to accuse others of diving (not saying you have) if it happens against them.

I agree, also, with what Money_Shot says, why should he be protected by referees? He's just another player, why should he get any special treatment? It's laughable when people call for this. What do you expect to happen when you say protection?

I don't know what Liverpool fans your basing your opinion on mate, but take it from me, we're not like that. Go and find anything in this thread where me or any of the other Reds have had a proper moan up about any other player or club. I had a little bash at Rooney for shouting at the camera but apart from that, i think you'll struggle.

You never have a decent word to say about us, like Yoda said. Honestly, almost every post u make about us, your on our case about something. You've been on Suarez's back since October like he shot your granny. That's not banter, that's a tirade against someone. Then you play the "This is a banter thread" card when one of us gets sick of it and says something.

You can say whatever you like, whenever you like, but don't expect us to just come in and have a bit of friendly banter about it. That's sound if it's something a bit tongue in cheek and funny but not when it's as blatant as what you post on here.

How would you respond to someone going on about Hull or one of your clubs most iconic players in a negative way all the time?

You post alot of good stuff mate but if you're saying Suarez isn't world class, then you've played a shocker there Rolleyes He's one of the best forwards in the world.

Well, referees to recognise that defenders are fouling him on a regular basis and for them to flash a card or two once in a while to stamp it out. Not read the papers, listen to radio and tv and say, oh it's Suarez again, he must've took a tumble, get up, stay on your feet. How is it fair that a player with unbelievable talent can be stopped in his tracks by constant fouling? He'll go down at times, probs too easily, like every forward, but honest to god, the lad gets next to nothing from referees.

But then by doing that, referees aren't being subjective to the situation, which is what they are meant to do. This way, they are showing bias in favour of Suarez, and how can that be fair?

Not the bookmakers. After the draw was made man Utd were 1/100 to qualify from that group. 1/100 Important

I'd settle for a fair share of the decisions Iamthatjack. If the refs just take each incident for what it is, instead of always telling him to get up, because it's Luis Suarez. He's getting next to nothing just now.

I think the big problem for both of us is, I see the dives he gets away with, and you see the fouls not given! Refs and players need to help each other out in order to get rid of all the diving and other cheating, and that way the fair and right decisions can be made easily.
