RE: VGA OR HDMI CABLES?
Asking the question can't hurt. If I can't help you with it (and I almost certainly can't, you were just lucky to ask one of the few questions I could answer. Wink), then maybe someone else will be able to.

If it's not on a sticker on the bottom of your router, then you can find it either on a little card that was inside the box your router came in, or else you can access your router's settings (google is your friend, here. Google the make & model and a search term like "change settings") and find it there. You can also change it to something easy to remember, once you're in there.

the wpa key is found through your router. to access your router you need to type in the ip address of your router into the url bar. you'll probably be asked for the username and password. the password will probably be the one you mentioned you tried. once you're into your router settings look for the wireless LAN and click it. look around and look for the wpa key and right it down. you'll probably need the ssid of your router too. that is the name of your wireless network which should be found in the router settings also. go to your ps3 and when selecting network settings choose manual or automatic. either way you will need to type in both ssid and wpa key. automatic should be better because it will save you having to type in subnet address, ip address etc. i think that about covers it. if not get back to me and i'll try help you

RE: Help with PS3 setup.
Ah, the joys of basic home networking Big Grin

I'm not going to add anything much to what's already been mentioned as it'll only confuse things as the first rule when guiding people with routers not used to accessing them is to know what router they have so as to be able to give exact information otherwise they'll normally never find the right place.

Not sure how clever the PS3 is at recognising security settings so I will add if you manage to access and find the wireless security settings of your router through the vague advice given you might want to check if the encryption is WPA (TKIP) or WPA (AES) as you might need to know.

If your struggling, tell us what router you have. If it's from AOL I expect it'll likely be from Netgear, possibly a variant of the DG834. It'll say on the router. Include the full number as some manufacturers have a habit of completely changing firmware mid version and I'm sure we'll come up with some advice a little bit more specific with less guesswork and generalities

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'
