Steve Vai does not come close? Have you ever actually seen him play or looked at any of his tablature or sheet music? He is ludicrously good and a master of basically every style out there. The dude is easily up there with Stevie Ray Vaughn, maybe with Hendrix, maybe not.

You're not for this world, this world is for you.

RE: Guitar hall of fame
If there is one guitar player that deservers to be in the guitar hall of fame out of all other legendary guitar players and that is Brian May, lead guitarist of the rock band Queen.

I saw him twice at the Queen + Paul Roger tours and he is just a force of nature, playing out tunes like no ones business, never wavering or making an error or a mistake, always on top form whenever he is playing.

During the concerts, even when Freddie Mercury was still alive, Brian would play a solo guitar moment to entertain the crowds while the others got changed into fresh clothes that wasn't soaked with sweat. Here are a few examples of his genius.

Edit: Also, another fact, Brian built his guitar, the Red Special, with his dad who was a carpenter when he was little, designing the guitar that would shape the sound of Queen's and his solo songs music. Bet none of the other guitarists can boast about that?
