RE: News on new channels - Freeview & Sky
Anyone know what an IPTV on a Freeview slot costs? Since it doesnt use Freeview bandwidth there is no reason why it should cost as much as a broadcast channel. What it does it advertise the link on a platform a large fraction of the public use daily. The level of IPTV takeup now is low, but Xxxpanded seem to be betting on growth and have bagged themselves a menu position ahead of the competition.

As it is televisionlike, not actual television, does this allow them to stream hardcore?

I think he's referring to the fact that the IPTV and HD situations are similar as very few viewers have either at present.

But that's only true up to a point - the point being that, unlike IPTV, HD doesn't rely on direct revenue from viewers.

I think you will find it is still regulated by Ofcom. Does that answer your question? Wink

Not sure when xxXpanded will go live on freeview, but it seems it will be using the old Playboy TV Chat hours, apparently it will be broadcasting from 12am to 6am and will not broadcast via IPTV
According to the info here http://www.terrestrialtv.co.uk/dtt.cgi .

So everyone with freeview should be able to watch xxXpanded TV .

They probably have more people tweeting and re-tweeting than there will be Freeview viewers, if its still IPTV, which seems to be the case. Smile

Its rather strange that there is no mention of this start date on their forum yet. I just checked it at 6.48pm this evening.

I'd already observed that my on-screen channel information for 180 omits the 'Data' descriptive that 179 and other IPTV channels have. However, Racing UK doesn't have it either so I held my horses.
