RE: Football Banter
Rooney has been charged by the FA and could face a 2 game ban
Bit harsh, but it was a bloody stupid thing for him to do

Drogba done a similar thing a coupla years ago and got a 4 game ban, although that was directed at the referee, whereas this was just some random rant laugh

RE: Football Banter
what did rooney say?

also al fayed said that "the fans can to hell or chelsea if they dont like the statue", which would see an empty craven cottage from now on. i dont think anyother chairman would such a thing, fair enough if a club has statues or bust of former players or managers.

i agree phoenix it is harsh and shouldnt have swore but i do believe a precedent has now been set but i dont think you can stop football managers and players from swearing, its just emotions. you can shoot some1 at the training ground and thats ok, lol joking phoenix. he swore, others do it and thats it, and it wont stop. i also heard beattie of blackpool swore and nothings been said! mmmm, strange! rooney will probably miss the fulham game and the semi final against man city and surprise surprise the top cheese at the fa used to be the top cheese at man city. if its to do with the watershed then what would have happened if he completed his hat trick in a midweek night game and swore after 9 o clock, would that have been ok?

RE: Football Banter
this is a first so on what basis do they come up with a 2 game ban why not 1 or 3 ? i think the FA are taking the fucking piss when it comes to united right know, sinced fergie made those comments after the chelsea game the paper's, pundits and opposing fans have been whinging that the FA are to lenient towards united so to bite back the slightest wrong doing by united now they'll jump on, its fucking ridiculous. we were 2 nil down 65 mins in and a player thats been getting stick everywhere he goes scores the goal that puts us in the lead, he was bound to show abit of emotion its immposible not to. he should appeal it he has a decent enough case atleast to get it down to 1 game anyway, we should have enough to get past fulham without him but we will need his energy and quality for citeh game.

EDIT................ i sense an essay coming from lindor soon lol...............cant wait

I think celebrating with team mates after scoring a goal and then turning to the pitch side TV cameras and swearing into them is a little different from the regular heat-of-the-moment on-pitch swearing that many players do.

RE: Football Banter
he never went to the camera like people are saying, the camera found him, lol. hes had all that stick and then he just put his team in the lead and emotions were running high. he never seeked out the camera, unlike when he was playing for england in the world cup and he had a go at the england fans after the game although i dont think he swore at the camera but he still had a go, but the fa didnt take any action then cos he was playing for them was he not?

RE: Football Banter
While i agree that the FA are right to take action, a heavy fine and a warning should be sufficient, any sort of ban would be very harsh. When the premiership title is at stake and your side are 2nil down, if a player goes on to score a hat trick then it,s only natural emotions will run high and you are bound to show that on the pitch.

Hopefully the apology Rooney issued straight after will go in his favour and the FA will show a little leniency.
