Two correct results & one victory method, not the best but at least i didn't bet any £££.

James Wilks v Claude Patrick Fairly poor fight to be honest, more of a good training session for both fighters.
Cheick Kongo v Travis Browne I can see Kongo gettin cut after this fight if not then one more like this then he's definitely gone!!! OK his ground game isn't great but he has a lot of talent but is too hesitant & cautious!!!
John Hathaway v Mike Pyle I said i wouldn't but i let the heart lead on thisRolleyes Pyle had the perfect game plan, he knew Hathaway's standup isn't great so he opposed his superior hand work to set up the takedown to perfection. That's the kind of fight that will give Hathaway's team the perfect base to build on as he's only 23. Top job by the experienced 35 year old.
Dan Hardy v Carlos Condit Suprised by the KO but not shocked. It was shaping up to be a war with Condit looking comfortable in the stand up against the dangerous Hardy. I think the KO came not due to power but the fact both fighters were goin for the punch at the same time which puts all the muscle tension in the feet & shoulder to focus the power into the punch, this weakening the neck & jaw, hence the KO. This was a great win for Condit & puts him in line for a title fight as Dana White has said Jon Fitch may not be the number 1 contender. Hardy has now lost 2 in a row but both were against welterweight champions, GSP UFC & Condit WEC, condit is effectively still the WEC champ as that division no longer exsits so i don't think the two defeats are that bad & i think he may face Thiago Alves next which would be a sign that he's sitll not far off another title shot???
Michael Bisping v Yoshihiro Akiyama As i expected Akiyama's fitness got the better of him late on which i think was the difference. I said this is the biggest fight of Bisping's career & yes he won but still hasn't impressed me. He stood in front of Akiyama all fight & once again was very easy to hit & never once sidestepped the fists of Akiyama, if Akiyama was i little fitter i think he would've put Bisping under constant pressure which Bisping wouldn't have liked & would've made him flap & open himself up even more. For me Mike is too one dimensional & doesn't have the range of skill needed to be a serious contender to Anderson Silva let alone be champion. The Americans only take note of him due to his talk before fights & we only take note of him as he was the first fighter from over here to make any headway at world level. The fact is he's no better than someone like Mike Pyle or Jon Fitch & those fighter make a name for themselves as a tough opponent but aren't considered champion quality???

RE: UFC
Congrats on the 1000th post mitchell Big Grin

Last nights event was pretty poor to be honest, not least because of the poor performances of the home fighters in general.

I was most disappointed with John Hathaways performance..take nothing away from Pyle who executed his game plan perfectly but really thought that match was there for the taking...

Great knockout by Condit over Hardy, would have been interesting if Hardy had connected properly with his punch...Out of interest...what would happen if they both knocked each other out in MMA? (i presume it would be a No Contest or a draw)

RE: UFC
Hows it goin lads? Not the best reaction to UFC 120!
I enjoyed the show apart from a few of our fighters gettin left behind! Rolleyes
Was sooo disappointed in John Hathaway.Controlled from start to finish by the ultra annoying Mike Pyle!Welcome to the UFC i think is the message he takes away.
Was shocked that Hardy got knocked out...expected it to be the other way.Hopefully he gets back on the winning trail...In the competitive welterweight div it won't be easy!
Well done to Michael Bisping who saved the night in my eyes..It seemed to me that he had to much respect for Akiyama to get really tore into him..He's a real nice guy and don't think i could bring myself to hit him either lol Although the sack whack was a nice touch!

Cracking crowd and cracking atmosphere!Roll on the next event in the UK!

Well done on the 1000th post Mitchell!A lot of quality posts too mate.Good of you to keep your 1000th for the UFC thread!Nice one lad.

RE: UFC
I picked this quote up from Marshall Zelaznik. UFC U.K. head Marshall Zelaznik confirmed that more are coming in 2011, including possible UFC Fight Night-type shows that will focus more on regional talent.
I said this might happen, with them bringing Fight Night over here, i think it's a good idea as it will give upcoming fighters a better chance to be seen rather than stuffed away on the prelims with no crowd present as i don't think that is the right atmosphere to prepare you for a big fight as far as nerves go. Hopefully this will mean more top name fighters will be on the main cards as well??? In the same interview Zelaznik also said there is a possibility of a title fight being staged over here... Ummm i think this maybe the Lightweight title, Edgar/Maynard v ??? this defeating the point of us wanting to see fighters with an already known reputation in terms of the crowd reaction!!!

UK, USA wherever it looks like 2011 is starting with a bang (No pun intendedRolleyes ) with UFC 125 Resolution on new years day.

Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard**
Shane Carwin v Roy Nelson***
Clay Guida v Takanori Gomi**
Chris Leben v Brian Stann
Nate Diaz v Dong Hyun Kim***
Brandon Vera v Thiago Silva

My dream would be Lesnar v Carwin 2 at the Echo! Smile
125 Looks like a cracking card Mitchell can't wait to watch that with my rasping headache from the night before!
The fight night shows would be great to stage over here Mitchell agreed mate..It's a brilliant platform for guys to make their name and get used to the big crowds and could breed some excellent talent!

Think i picked sack whack up from a film i watched recently lol Rolleyes

RE: UFC
I read on Sunday night that Lesnar was already weighing in at 265 pounds ( Heavyweight Limit) for his title defence on saturday.Meaning this is the lightest he's ever been this early. For me, this is a fantastic sign for Brock as he won't have to cut weight as he usually does in the week leading up to the fight.OK, it hasn't done him any harm so far but i think we might just be about to see the best Brock Lesnar we've ever seen.
Since the surgery he had he seems to be a fitter, healthier fighter.Meaning he'll be a faster more efficient tank when he steps into the octagon from now on!
I've heard people say that Lesnar's main advantage over Cain Velasquez will be his size and strength...but he's only gonna be around 20 pounds heavier if he stays at his current weight (265lbs) until fight time as Velasquez is a 240 Pound fighter. So i don't see this being as big an advantage on Saturday night as people might think.
The difference for me will be a faster fitter Lesnar.By not having to cut from 285 Pounds to 265 in a week or so he's gonna be an even scarier opponent.
I still think the only fighter in the world capable of beating Lesnar just now is Shane Carwin.
