Hospital visit 7th February

Saturday 7th February I am to have an x-ray (or maybe scan) on my right knee to see if it has arthritis in it.
It has taken me 12 months to get to this stage and I have found the pain increasing with walking to work every morning and work activities. The recent visit with physiotherapist at my doctor's surgery saw me have difficulty in bending my knee backwards while standing without experiencing pain.

Then last Saturday night I ended up falling over on my right side after slipping on a wet outside doormat (that hadn't dried out properly with all the rain we've had here), and that resulted in a probably a sprain in my right ankle (which hasn't cleared up), and probably more damage to my knee (said doormat has since been disposed off), so whether they will do any extra x-rays of my ankle if I was to tell them of my fall.
I have been told that the worst kind of arthritis there is, is bone on bone.

Knee Osteoarthritis. Welcome to the club.

Mine is due to years of kneeling, climbing in and out of lofts and general stupidity at work, i discovered I had it by simply standing up after painting the garden gate on a lovely sunny day in September 2024. The crack was audible, so much so that my neighbour, who was standing in his garden talking to me at the time, almost turned a visible shade of green when he heard it

Thus followed 5 months off work (on full pay luckily) X-Rays, a MRI Scan and 3 months of physiotherapy which was fun, but it did the trick.

I bought a Knee Support off Amazon, it works wonders when my knee plays up, which it has been over the last few week with the cold, damp weather.

but I would say I would suspect most of it has been caused by work where I've been up and down where I have to get up from kneeling to serve people. Not only that I did spend a lot of time kneeling on the floor when young. I do get the odd creak when I'm using the toilet standing up.

I can highly recommend Jointace Gel for the inevitable aches & pains that will come. It's not cheap, but a tube will last ages if you use it sparingly. Also, wash your hands throughly after using it, you don't want it in your eyes...or anywhere sensitive

Thanks guys I'm prepared for any scenario (good or bad news) and then see how it will affects work in the longer run, have been using Voltarol when it is really bad and does ease things for a while but I see this moment as a necessity for any future living & planning. I have used knee supports in the past but have often found them to be a bit too tight and restrictive on movement for me, whether that is because I have small knees or anything I'm not sure.

I can well understand people using the brand-less "Ibuprofen gel" alternatives which are a fraction of the price, for little loss of result.

Got back home 3:45 - now it is a nervy two weeks wait for results
Was seen to 10 mins after arrival - Had to drop trousers to do x ray
