11.1 Oh yeah, S11, baby! First time I'll have watched as live, and they've finally chucked the most abrasive judge (for now) too. Derwentwater offered a picturesque opening challenge, and almost all the competitors could have been picked as the winner, and even some of the wildcards were very good, too.
LAotY 2026
11.2 Back to London, and St James' Park, with a view of Buck House. News this week of a massive format change for S12 adds a melancholy touch to viewing this now. Again, generally very good results all round.

If I followed this right, a documentary on a book about a Vermeer painting, "Officer with Laughing Girl", in which said Officer is sporting a large felt hat, which leads to the origins of felt hats, and inevitably, to Canada's Beaver Wars. No, it's true.
The World in a Painting: Ingres' Diamond
Actually a different series, albeit on the same premise. This 1807 effort depicts some bloke's mistress, qui s'appelle "Madame Duvaucey", in a time where mistresses were accepted but typically left legally unconnected, so they'd get gifts like diamonds to tide them over. If that seems dull, wait until they start harping on about how many diamonds came from India - so riveting it made me nostalgic for Crazy Legs Crane looking for gold.
