RE: NFL 2025-2026 season
Well that was painful to watch last night

3-0 lead late into the 2nd qtr turned into a 28-3 deficit in the blink of an eye it seemed as the D wilted

Couple of late touchdowns made the score look a little more respectable at 28-15 but were never in it.

So another season with no playoffs (Just 4 appearances in 24 seasons now) and the longest drought without a playoff win continues (last playoff win was December 30th 2000)

Big off-season ahead that may involve a complete housecleaning of coach and QB or will it just be minor tweaking and both return

Tuas contract makes it very hard to move on from him without taking a huge cap hit

After 2 fun exciting seasons to open McDaniels coaching career in Miami when we were genuinely one of the most exciting teams in the league to 2 failures in the 2 seasons since were it seems he has lost all faith in Tua and the whole team relies on Achane running wild but as we saw last night once we are behind and having to throw the ball the majority of the time as the gameplan goes out the window it's a struggle to do anything

^^ I like Mike McDaniel as a person, just not sure he is Head Coach material. It's been an admirable effort from the Dolphins after a horrendous start they've done well to keep their season alive for this long. It has been fantastic to watch Tua in full flow in the past, you just wonder if the league has caught up with what they had been doing, you have to keep evolving. Tyreek Hill was instrumental in the 2 big seasons, his production dropped off massively last season & they're had to with his loss through injury.
A tough road ahead now in the AFC East with the re-emergence of the Pats.

I'm almost settled in my mind on who will make it into the post season.

I've got 6 team in each conference & the final place is in the NFC South between the Buccs & Panthers who play each other twice, very much up in the air, but the Panthers are playing better.

Same in the AFC North, either the Steelers or Ravens, both have some challenging games, but also face off in the final week of the regular season.

He would be well suited to the offensive personnel & fit a similar style to that of Dan Johnson.

Lions looks set to lose Tight End Coach Tyler Roehl as he is likely heading back to Iowa State as OC.

RE: NFL 2025-2026 season
Next 3 games could decide McDaniel fate as Dolphins HC

Win all 3 and a 9-8 record will probably be enough to secure another chance, lose all 3 and a 6-11 record with back to back losing seasons could push him over the edge

Stephen Ross does genuinely seem to like him and want to keep him, hence the GM firing back in October and not the HC and said he was safe for now which is why I think the next 3 games will be important for him.

Also the aforementioned GM position will be filled in the off-season and it's fairly common for a new GM to want to bring in his own people and coming of a 6-11 or 7-10 season would make any coaching change seem fully justified.

I agree though he wouldn't be out of a job for long and would be snapped up as an OC fairly quickly I'd imagine.

Tough one for me as others have said he seems a really nice and funny guy but repeated issues haven't been addressed for 2 seasons now and it does seem he has never fully adjusted to the league figuring him out after the first 2 seasons

Tua officially benched Quinn Ewers will make his 1st NFL start this Sunday vs Bengals

Well let's see what the kid can do in the last 3 games I guess

Only appeared once so far in the Thrashing by the Browns back in October, I only watched into the 3rd qtr of that one as I was watching it on my phone on the train back from the Jags vs Rams Wembley game and when it went to 24-6 I gave up with the in and out WiFi and terrible phone signal on the train so didn't actually see him make any throws (5/8, 53 yards, sscked twice)

To cut Tua before June would cost close to a $100m in cap space and around half that if cut after June deadline

It will be tough to get a trade partner willing to take on the contract if we went that route

Real muddled times in Miami right now

No GM, top $$ QB Benched, HC on the Hot Seat

Feels like it's going to be a tough few years ahead again

RE: NFL 2025-2026 season
^^ Not the first time a franchise have overpaid a QB & landed themselves in trouble. I'm thinking the Browns Deshaun Watson affair. Watson is only the 13th highest paid QB, but crazier still is that Mahomes is behind him in 14th & really the only one in the top 20 who has repaid the franchise with Super Bowl success.
Tua is the 6th best paid but is he the 6th best NFL QB ? His problem is he looks amazing at his best, at his worst he looks like a rabbit in the headlights, the gap between the 2 is enormous.
Maybe the benching is just taking advantage of the situation & merely to have an extended look at what they have for the future with less pressure. They will learn more about Quinn Ewers in these 3 games than any pre-season run outs. The Bengals have nothing on the game & have a poor defence, so a steady start, next up the Buccs with all to play for but again not a great D, lastly the Pats who could be fighting for homefield advantage in the Playoffs & have a quality defence.

The Browns are stuck with Watson. Much like the Dolphins, they don't want to have a large sum in dead cap money. Both teams will have to do some maneuvering with the salary cap for 2026 Sad

The tough spot in the NFL, do you start over and draft a QB?
Find a veteran that can hold down the fort for a year or two?
Do you over pay for someone who might be "the guy"?

Give them less, they will pay more
Bring on the TARIFFS
