He doesn't want the vote to happen - it's going to happen.

He doesn't want the vote to succeed - it looks increasingly likely it will succeed, possibly by a large majority, latest reports suggest 100 republicans may support it.

It looks like he is desperately changing his position in an attempt to get ahead of the inevitable, trying to make the whole thing look less embarrassing for himself.
I doubt there's anything earth shattering in these files, if there was it would have come out by now. The dems had four years to go through and find dirt and came up empty, so why the great reluctance to just release them and move on, who knows.

Files were sealed by the courts for four years. Dems couldnt view them.

So what's the chances there IS something in them when they are unsealed??

MTG is covering her arse, she knows the ship is sinking and she wants to swim as far away as she can before she gets dragged down.

She's up for re-election at next years mid-terms.

If they pass in the house then it moves to the senate, then Trump has to sign off on them. Not exactly a one and done, two further hurdles before any release.

Whether he took part or not (his history indicates he likely did), he was good friends with Epstein, the amount of time together and what their circle of friends seem to be like, yeah, bullshit. If Trump isn't mentioned in the files in a way that makes him look guilty, then they've been doctored/modified so he can use it against his 'enemies', such as Clinton, and whoever the fuck else is listed. No way is he not implicated in some way, I call bullshit if he gets away with this.

Oh and remember, if Trump wanted them to be released, he could have by executive order as far as I'm aware, bypassing all the delay tactics they've been using.
