Wainwright - The Man Who Loved The Lakes 1907-1991
A worthy profile from 2007 about the guidebook whizz who knocked out 7 books over 13 years, in his spare time, and remained a pretty recalcitrant prefer-own-company dude. Sue Lawley among the few contributors as he was persuaded to do Desert Island Discs in 1988.

9.6 "King Arthur country" this week, i.e. Somerset, and inasmuch as the Knights of the Round Table might have worn Clarks Shoes, drunk cider, travelled on the West Somerset Railway, and used Haynes manuals, it was as accurate as any other retelling.
SC's GDO
9.7 As with previous series-closers, some new footage and a lot of "that reminds me of the time I went to...". Dumfries House, King Charlie's project, was her new visit, but the repeats did include Ripley Castle from YORKSHIRE, so there we have it, presumably for another year.

One other issue I have with this series, besides the excuse to repeat themselves so much (another bloody Ealing comedy?!), is their capacity to repeat the information they impart and discussions they have. So one presenter will introduce a topic, then talk to someone else about it as though it's news, whilst another presenter will separately talk about it as if nobody else has brought it up.
CM: Highlander
Unlike their look at Flash Gordon, they didn't really bother with Queen's soundtrack, which seems a bit weak. But nice of them to look at something more modern than they usually try to.

BBC4 have really dug out a lot in this season. Sir Michael Hordern took his big stick and visited parts of the area in 1989, rivers and buildings familiar from usage in his books. I always think of Hordern when I watch Gone Fishing because he told some angling tales.
Ah, this is the one I must have been thinking of.

Scene South West: Michael Hordern - Going Home
A half-hour from 1982, as Michael recounted how his family moved from Haywards Heath to the Dartmoor area as Sussex wasn't countryside enough for them, or something. The 93-y-o vicar in the local church recalled them arriving 50-60 years earlier. His fishing and navy years came up, too.

8.2 To Carmarthenshire, at a point where the river Towy meets the river Cothi, in an attempt to snag a sea trout. This leads to them fishing into the dark night, where Bob eventually comes up trumps.
M&W: GF
8.3 Quite a change of scene with a trip to the Rochdale canal, where Bob revisits his past and catches up with an old friend, whilst Paul catches up with a perch. They later move to the river Dare, where Paul catches a grayling, and the weather changes drastically and eventually for the better.

4/4 Quatermass to Christopher Nolan
In keeping with the series, it was a mish-mash, but hey, they included Dr Who and not Star Trek, so ahahahahahahahahahahaha. The Matrix was a game-changer like 2001, Star Wars and Close Encounters of the etc, but the MCU has also changed things, perhaps not entirely for the better.
Wonderland
1/4 Looking at children's literature in this series, this opener considered Alice in Wonderland, Swallows and Amazons, and then the grim real-life dramas caused by Winnie the Pooh.
