Looking forward to Selby v Woollaston tonight.

Yep it's the Leicester local derby clash tonight. Four time champion Selby should win easily on current form but the first round at The Crucible is getting increasingly notorious for upsets so never say never to another.

A notable success for Pang Junxu I thought. His first win at the home of snooker and a fine recovery it was too from being behind most of the match. Zhang Anda got increasingly out of sorts as the match progressed. A poor end to a disappointing season for him.

Judd Trump clearly had a restaurant booking . He zoomed to a 10-4 win over Zhou Yuelong in rapid time.
All four frames he won this evening were with tons.
Over on the other table Ben Woollaston has started well and cued nicely to go 3-1 up at the mid session interval. Can he keep it up?

4 centuries in tonight's 5 frames for Judd puts his total for the season to 98. Just 2 more needed for a ton of tons and the £100K bonus.

Mark Selby defied tip troubles to edge into a 5-4 lead over a determined Ben Woollaston. Selby bookended the session with centuries but the match became very scrappy after the mid session interval.
Woollaston hung tough to go 4-2 but then a few errors started creeping in and the four time champion found a way to force a lead.
They resume tomorrow at 7pm.

Been exciting and surprising 1st round, 2 trouble makers gone, 1 left...

Today sees the end of the first round and start of the second hence only two sessions of play.

Luca Brecel won six of eight frames this afternoon to book a last sixteen clash with Ding Junhui. Ryan Day led 5-4 overnight and rattled in a ton to go 6-4 in front.
A series of scrappy frames ensued after that with the Belgian winning three in a row to lead 7-6. The Welshman levelled with a 64 but Brecel was not to be denied and took the last three frames to seal progress.

Ben Woollaston has produced a seismic shock at The Crucible Theatre by knocking out four time champion Mark Selby 10-8.
In a long, drawn out struggle Woollaston had his nerve tested on many occasions and at times he faltered but ultimately did enough to get over the line for the biggest win of his career. Two Woollaston's still at The Crucible .
Tatiana will be so proud of him and rightly so.
