Even shows like this succumb to the "champion of champions" format. 8 of the first 9 winners return for a chance to paint Judi Dench ("what colour?" ho ho etc). Most of the results are excellent but she picks one that clearly caught her interest. A new judge chooses an overall winner, as the 3 regulars perhaps feel they've done it enough.
Portrait Artist of the Year 2023
10.2 The proper series starts with husband & wife Richard Curtis & Emma Freud in the hot seats, and Fleur East also. Some of the results are genuinely museum-worthy, though the judges pick one I wouldn't have.

COBRA 'Rebellion' SKY
Huh Will give it time, but really not sure!! The 'shock' value of the PMs daughter joining the 'Resistance' really fell flat! The self interested agendas of some of the govt ministers around the cabinet, war room table were highly predictable - as was much of the dialogue. Not a great start!

They mention Barbie, but stop before reviewing him in it. Drive's quite good, I thought.
Discovering: John Mills
A rare change to have a very old school actor, and a somewhat old school edition, not looking at several of his most famous roles, and instead focusing on some of the others.

Billions S7 E10

A great episode - the last 5 minute confrontation between Bobby Axelrod and Mike Prince was absolutely compelling and edge of the seat viewing! - It is all based on the dialogue spoken within this scene but it's utterly brilliant stuff - Damian Lewis is just exceptional as Bobby Axelrod!! The end scene has set up a cracking next episode and on top of that, with Slayer 'Angel Of Death' playing in the background within the scene and in the end credits, this was just brilliant!! 10/10! Smile

The Art of Australia
1 - Stranger in a Strange Land
Edmund Capon fronted this ABC/BBC co-production in 2013, and now it's on SA instead. In this first show, he looks at Australia up to the end of the 19th century. One of the first major painters in Australia was a forger called Joseph Lycett, spookily enough.

Mark caught up with her in 1999 to talk about Tony Curtis, Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Sinatra, and how her career dwindled.
Scene by Scene - Donald Sutherland
Mark talked to him in 2001, and he was good value for it. Very flattering about directors he liked, rueful about some other experiences, and teasing some of Mark's scene choices.
