Surprise first time major finalist Andrew Gilding stuns Michael Van Gerwen 11-10 to win the UK Open.

So happy for Gilding.

He played steady, solid darts all through the event and got his rewards for sheer bloody minded consistency.
Well done him Smile.

Channel 5 are screening a Champion of Champions event for several afternoon hours tomorrow and Sunday, according to listings. Some sort of veterans event, Phil Taylor listed amongst the players. The snag is that - OH NOES - Ray Stubbs has been dug up to present, with Bobby George there for punditry too.

RE: Darts
Seniors is the term that clearly eluded me yesterday. Martin Adams v Trina Gulliver was the last quarter-final, which maybe says it all. Semis and final tomorrow.

"Golden" Gates, apparently Rolleyes Well done him.

Otherwise, somewhat underwhelming, like the good old BDO days. I hope Channel 5 are nevertheless encouraged/financially able to show more tournaments.
