Football returned with the first group games of the League Cup

Annan Athletic won at Queen of the South 3-2, Buckie Thistle drew with Ross County 1-1 and Arbroath beat St Mirren 1-0 in notable results.

Dundee beat Hamilton 2-0 and Dunfermline won 2-0 away to East Fife

In League Cup group action after 3 matches. Aberdeen look to have qualified for Group A,

Kilmarnock and Parrick Thistle should qualify from Group B,

Ross County and Dunfermline should qualify from Group C

Falkirk should qualify from Group D with Hibs hopes hanging by a string after they lost the penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with Morton where they missed all 4 penalties in their last game

The winner of Arbroath or Airdrie should qualify from Group E

Annan have qualified unbeaten in Group F, StJohnstons could still qualify if they beat Ayr United.

Inverness look to have qualified from Group G

Dundee look to have qualified from Group H with the winner of Hamilton v Queens Park likely to join them

Highland and Lowland Leagues started Saturday. Fort William seem to have been relegated. Or been Kevorkianed.

East Stirling find themselves in a division which now includes Hearts B, and an odd number of teams - 19. What dipstick let that one pass?

Cowdenbeath's chances of a quick return have started with 2 defeats out of 2.

Motherwell out of Europe at the hands of the fearsomely titanic, er, Sligo Rovers.

Hamilton finished with 9 men but held Morton to a draw. East Stirling got a draw as well.

But Dunfermline got a win.

Dunfermline 3 wins out of 3.

Kelty Hearts and Cove Rangers finding things tougher so far this year.
