^^ You can't make a fair comparison between how England & Scotland have faired in their handling of Omicron. Scotland's population is 5.5 million against 56 million of England, which is densely populated, with many large cities. Glasgow has the 7th largest population in the UK, Edinburgh the 9th, with a combined 1 million people, the 3rd largest is Aberdeen with under 200,000.

RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?
I think most people (anti-vaxx and anti lockdown people aside) were happy enough to follow the rules, for the most part at least. Protecting our family, our friends, neighbours and our wider community was/is important for those of us who care about others, not to mention the NHS, given the fact the Tory party have made things harder for them continually.
Although it's not a surprise that these Tory scumbags broke rules they had set out, I don't think anyone expected it, or at least to this extent. I mean, partying the night before the Queen had to sit by herself at her husbands funeral, they should all lose their jobs for that, if that isn't a last straw, I don't know what the fuck is. But we live in a world where Boris became PM, so...

The stupid idiots who voted for him need to take responsibility for this mess too, he was a well known liar and useless idiot well before he became PM. Those who kept him in power, whether by buying his bullshit, or voting Tory because they always have, also need to take some blame.

I expect that Downing Street staff were testing every day at the time. So a degree of complacency may have set in because they assumed that THEIR gatherings were safe. In doing so, however, they failed to have any empathy or regard for the millions who did not have access to daily testing and were responsibly following the rules. And lack of empathy is a key trait of the Eton-educated Oxford Union gang that we foolishly elected for their populist grandstanding and facile sloganeering.

Surely that is irrelevant to the fact that they broke their own rules which were strict at the time, and which others adhered too at great cost to themselves and their loved ones! If the police do not get involved here and follow the evidence, it will be a scandal, considering their approach to other rule/law breaches at the time!!

Spain are wanting to downgrade Covid to something similar to seasonal flu, a few other countries are have said similar, with the latest variant being milder, vaccines and boosters helping the virus mutate to being less severe (in terms of death) Do people think we are heading towards this? Every year, Nov to Feb, cases will rise, pressure on NHS, masks but rest of the year, everything open, no restrictions, let the virus around at low levels?

^Considering how flu infections have dropped off a cliff over the last couple of years, mask wearing over the winter might not be a bad thing.

Of course the usual simpletons will complain about it but fuck them.

Only 3 things in life are certain. Death, Taxes and lesbians will never look how they do in porn movies.

I like the masks. I think we should wear them all year long. Indoors and outdoors.

Nothing to do with COVID or the flu … Just my misanthropic nature. I’ve enjoyed not seeing everyone’s dumb faces on the Tube.

And don’t even get me started on all the pointless meetings, ‘away days’, enforced workplace socialising, hand shaking, and ‘kisses hello’ from women who have no intention of sleeping with me. I’m hoping for policies that put a permanent end to all that too.
