The govt are now merely 'fiddling while Rome burns' Their in/out approach has not worked and in many ways, it has made things worse. Too late in some moves and not enough to boot, or distracted by the politics of it all, and not doing what those at the coal face asked for! Now more and more nhs outlets are struggling, and the medical/care staff, who should also have been a factor in the govts thinking, at their wits end! Bojo et al were very quick to dole out the 'advice/instruction' 'protect/save the NHS to everybody, but in too many ways, their action/inaction as only served to achieve the opposite effect!

After all these 'failings' despite horrendously difficult circumstances, we cannot and must not - wherever in the uk - allow them or the devolved govts to renege on the promises to recognise their worth (finally) by walking away from stated commitments to improve pay rates/conditions etc. Our MP's should be made aware that their jobs and livelihoods will depend upon them following thru on their 'sweet words' of thanks and gratitude.

Yup, strong rumours that my area will be one of the ones going into a 'tier 5' after the review today, unless the whole country goes into lockdown again instead.

Apparently there won’t be a tier 5 announced, just more areas going into tier 4

Yeh, that makes sense, no tier 5. I don't want a lockdown again but we need one. Cancel January & see where we are. It's not like it'll be a proper lockdown like we had in March, lockdown 2 was a pretend one

what you have to remember is the reason the Nov lockdown was not a proper lockdown is people dont want to be locked down again, why in Nov so many people just didn't do it, Lockdowns only work if people want then to and most dont, most people have adjusted to the way the world is now and it dont shock them like it did in march, saw a thing on line yesterday saying most people they asked now though that upto 500 a day passing away from covid was ok so when we are seeing less than that people think that everything should be normal

^^ Lockdowns only work if people want them to. So the government go along with that. Hard luck, you lockdown to save lives, some of which could be your own family & friends. Also to take some pressure off the overstretched NHS. It's like saying if people don't want to drive on the left-hand side of the road, then don't have that rule & let them kill each other.
People must be really fucked up if the think that 500 deaths per day are ok. You prevent as many deaths as possible, pandemic or no pandemic. there is no number that's ok, if it one death which happens to be your son, daughter, parent, grandparent then it's not ok.

Most intelligent people understand the need for restrictions and / or lockdowns and go along with them even if they'd rather not. It's the selfish arseholes (usually the ones with Football Club names in their Twitter Bio) who just don't give a toss. I'd be willing to bet they change their tune sharpish if their dear old Granny dies after contracting Covid.

Anyone suggesting that any level of deaths over & above that caused by old age is acceptable, is a Cunt.
