I love going by train even if it's just up to London.
I've made a few journeys behind heritage locomotives and they include:
Settle and Carlisle behind LNER A2 Blue Peter, Paddington to New Quay behind D1015 Western Champion, Home Counties behind LNER A1 Tornado.

Unfortunately a few years ago I moved to a part of the country which are less well served by rail tours. This and the quantity of planned engineering at the weekend makes finding a journey more difficult.

The one I want to do most is the Caladonian Sleeper with the right lady for company. There was a time when one way to Scotland could be had for sixty quid or so but they've new trains now so it's a lot more.

For those interested I would recommend the advice to be found in the Man In Seat 61 website.

i am a massive train fan , love travelling on them , i have travelled on the train in 27 different countries,in the UK i love travelling along the sea wall between Exeter and Newton abbort was my local line as a child and where i got my love of trains also so beautiful by the sea,
other lines in the uk i like are the Cambrian coast between Carlisle and Barrow i personally think this more pretty area than the other more famous area in the area the S & C,
in Scotland have always liked the west highland line to fort William and Mallaig i used to love getting on the train in Crewe and waking up in a different world in somewhere like Rannoch,
also i line that is truly breath taking is from Inverness to Wick in the far north, only done it a couple of time as its so far away its mindblowing going through the wilderness with nothing in it amazing that places like this still exist in the UK,
i resonantly checked on a railway map and the only lines in the uk i have not travelled on are as follows
Salcoats to Ardrossan Harbour in Scotland
 in England
 Middlesbrough to Whitby
 Liverpool to Southport
 Huddersfield to Barnsley
 Hazel Grove to Buxton
 Watford to St Albans
 Ascot to Alton
i have done all my passenger lines in Wales and north and south Ireland
also travelled on a lot of special trains that have gone to places that only normally see fright trains,

will list my fave journes in Europe tomorrow
currently walking on the Sunny side of the street
