Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?

knock on effect of this affecting my workplace...
Whilst working today, two ladies came in from Boots next door and said their workload had TRIPLED since it all kicked off and especially on the pharmacy side of things and as a result their opening times were changing from tomorrow they would be opening at 8:30am and closing at five and they would only be having the pharmacy part opened only and not the retail part of the store.(Or something to that effect) Then they said once they were closed they would like be replenish and be cleaning behind closed doors.

Then a lady from Next the other side of us, came up to me said "Are you closing at 5?" I said "I wasn't sure but was sure would probably would close at 6 today" but she said apparently most other stores in the shopping centre were closing early from tomorrow and this was news to me. I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow, but I have a gut feeling that we may POSSIBLY close at 5 and do the same as Boots, and use that extra hour to clean and replenish we shall have to see, but I would think it is not likely. so that way we work our contracted hours. there is a part of me that feels that the way things are happening atm, come Christmas 2020, it might be whole different ball game altogether.

Some food for thought as to why the situation in Italy is so serious...

Northern Italy (the Covid19 hotspot of Europe) just happens to be rammed with leather and textile companies which were sold to China. Italy then allowed 100,000 workers in from....wait for it....Wuhan! Direct Flights between Wuhan and Northern Italy were continuing when it was all going to hell in Wuhan. In addition, most of Italy’s Chinese population (300,000) went back to China for their New Year celebrations in January. How many of them came back infected? Around that time also there were an unusually high number of cases of pneumonia in Northern Italy! Add in the facts that the Italian culture is a social and tactile one, along with having the second oldest population on Earth and you can see why the shitstorm has happened there!

If I was PM, everyone buying more food and bog roll they could ever possibly need would be tasered on the spot. Greedy bastards.

If I was BJ, I'd be sending the armed cops and army without warning (even if it was in thr middle of the night (couldn't care less if their front door was smashed in), to grab back half of what they have got, b(especially the bog rolls), for re - distribution to the elderly & disabled members of their street, and ban them from driving & entering all Supermarkets/Costoco type places for at least 18 months and then do the same & halve any of their benefits to help prop up the elderly and disabled. Then after the ban is up, then put them on a restricted item shopping list. then they would have to shop within their means oh and they would have an outright ban from using food banks. I would also urge Supermarkets to not put restrictions on what the elderly can buy as many not get out as much as other people. I know some bog roll companies have vowed to catch up with those people panic buying bog rolls and wonder how they'll managed to achieve that

If that is the case I wonder with British steel being owned by a Chinese firm there if there is any possibility of any recent steel imports could have been infected with the bug. But I didn't even know that, probably many will now be looking very suspiciously at any Italian leather goods given for Christmas after knowing that

I can only assume that they would need to report no new cases for several weeks or something before releasing any lockdown. I'm not sure what the timescale is on that front.
