Birds of Prey: And the fabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn 5/10 - my expectations were high but the film was a real disappointment. Despite being occasionally foul mouth and violent the film lacks any real plot or storyline and the constant rewinding of the film to explain the actions of certain characters is just irritating. There are one or two humours moments but overall not very good.

I got the feeling it'd be a bit marmite from the trailers, I'll probably enjoy it, but I know others that'll not be as easily pleased.

One question, does Margot's accent hold, because the voice over for one of the trailers was a bit Aussie? lol.

It can't decide wether it wants to be for kids or adults, they really should have gone for a hard 18 certificate and let Margot really cut loose instead the violence is really quite mild and the character of harley comes across as a bit of a softy and at no time is there any real sense of menace from her which almost totally makes her a joke and not in a good way.

They would never make her character far out violent the character was never like that. With someone like the Joker totally different matter.

With Joker there was a real air of menace about him and you knew people were going to suffer but with harley its " yes she's a bad girl but there is nothing to be scared of " and that totally dilutes her character.

Because the Joker is homicidal psychopath that’s why his scarier this is guy that shot Bargirl in the spine, beat Jason Todd half to death with a crowbar then blew him up for good measure and even peeled off people’s faces off and wore them as masks.
Harley Quinn started from the Batman Animated so all her origin stories have started from there her personality is dysfunctional not psychotic like the Joker and why her character chose the profession of being a psychologist because of her personality and family that’s why she ended up falling in love with him and why there relationship had always been abusive. Part of the reason why young girls like her character is because she’s portrayed as bad girl naughty and why she choose the name Harley Quinn after
the Harlequin and has on occasion teamed up with Batman.

I get the general idea it just that the film comes across as being aimed at kids but then they changed their minds and threw in a few swear words to try and spice it up.

A few swear wouldn’t be enough to give it a 15 rating if that were the case it would simply been given 12A the BBFC gave it a 15 for Strong violence, injury detail, language, sexual threat.
