(21-02-2016 00:11 )The Silent Majority Wrote:  Didn't they base an episode of minder on that too? Where Arthur was in the jury room?

I can vaguely picture it, but that's about it.

The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms(1953)

An atomic bomb is detonated near the artic circle during an experiment which disturbs the slumber of giant Rhedosaurus which had been preserved in ice for over 100,000,000 years.Notable for being the first screen adaptation of a piece of work by legendary fantasy fiction writer Ray Bradbury.Lee Van Cleef has a small roll but the film is mostly significant for being the first film that Ray Harryhausen made in which he had total control over the design and special effects.

This Land is Mine (1943) directed by Jean Renoir - a timid schoolteacher in an unspecified European country during World War Two finally stands up to be counted. Despite the old silly moment, this is an interesting propaganda piece with a nicely underplayed leading performance from Charles Laughton with support from Maureen O'Hara, George Sanders, Walter Slezak and Philip Merivale. 6.5/10

The Hunchback of Notre Dame(1939)

William Dieterle directs Charles Laughton who puts in a magnificent performance as the hunchbacked bell ringer, conveying Quasimodo's humanity through the grotesque make up by Perc Westmore and George Bau.A young and very gorgeous Maureen O'Hara is also excellent as Esmeralda.

Greenray, rpj316, you two have a remarkable film culture, congratulations

The Naked Gun: From the files of police squad
1988, directed by David Zucker, with Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy, Ricardo Montalban
8,5/10

not many words are needed: incredibly hilarious Smile

year after year after year, I keep reading that the shows were better "in the past"... maybe they were never that great (except in the pioneering era)?

the equalizer 9/10 Washington and equalizer is going to be the neeson and taken except the sequal wont be watered down like taken. I have seen a few of Washington's films and I might to say this is amongst the best of his with training day and john q being his best films. got to love nail guns as weapon.
