How to download a streaming video from Youtube etc

Simply download the free version of realplayer from it's website and install it. Next time you watch a streaming video a "download this video" bar will appear above the streaming video(see attachment). Hope this helps people.

How To Download A YouTube Video:

Step 1: Go to YouTube and find a video you wish to download.

Step 2: Copy the video's address (URL). An example URL is "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeArkBmUp7A".

Step 3: Paste the video's address into the whitebox within the big red box at YouTubeLoader.com and click "Download".

Step 4: Click on either "Download as FLV", "Download as MP4" or "Download As 3GP" depending on what format you wish to download your video in. When you click on one of these, the download will start automatically.

To open/play the video, l suggest you use the VLC Media Player.

The Real Player record doesn't work with Firefox. I use video downloadhelper - available here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 It downloads as an flv file, but it has the option to convert flv to any of the other major video formats as part of the download process, if you add the converter from the programmers own website. It's all explained within the add-on's control panel.

Does anyone know how to record videos from Comedy Central or NBC? The only thing that works is Replay Media Catcher but that costs money and that doesn't appeal to me. Any ideas guys?

Do you use firefox? if so then google 'downloadhelper'. it's an addon which works great for downloading embedded videos etc from youtube and other similar sites. It doesn't download streaming videos though.

Has anyone here tried the Realplayer Plus option, which allows downloads from the tube sites to be burnt to hard drives or discs, and if so does it work with all the sites?

Or is there a better alternative?

For screen caps of a whole vid, I use Video Thumbnails Maker. For Individual screen caps of vids, I use the tried and trusted Classic windows media player. Thumbnails can also be made via classic wmp but can be a bit temperamental.
