Sex with robots

According to a new report that looks at how continuing improvements to artificial intelligence and robotics will impact society, “robotic sex partners will become commonplace” by 2025. These will not just be dumb robots either, but will have credible artificial intelligence.

The report, called “AI, Robotics, and the Future of Jobs” and published by Pew Research, basically consists of a bunch of experts waxing lyrical about what the world will look like in 2025 if robots and AI continue to advance at the same scary pace of the last few years.

By 2025, according to the report, “robotic sex partners will be a commonplace.” We may even have realistic sexbots in less than 5 years, which will look, move, and feel a lot like real humans. In short, they’ll probably be good enough to satisfy most sexual urges.

What effect these sexbots will have on human-human relationships, and on the sex industry, remains to be seen. At a bare minimum, a lot of sex workers will probably lose their jobs. If people start falling in love with their sexbots there could be some wide-ranging repercussions.

Isaac Asimov wrote about this about 20-30 years ago : he predicted that in a society where robotic servants were commonplace, and highly realistic looking, the use of a robot for sex would actually be a total social taboo. In fact he predicted a society where human colonists on other worlds lived alone and almost in complete isolation from each other and only communicated electronically : they couldn't bear to be in the same room as another person, partly due to a phobia of disease, and partly because of a kind of inherited claustrophobia born out of a legacy from the over-crowded "mother world" Earth where everyone lives on top of each other in huge cities because the external environment had got so polluted.

Will you be able to order a robot to your requirements? I mean could you say you want it to look like someone you specify - a girl from one of the babe channels for example?

She would have to consent to her likeness being used, as everyone has "image rights" over their own unique image.

I assume she would also have to model for it, to make sure the robot was anatomically correct in every detail.

Most end up being killer robots/androids/replicants/terminators - fancy being with your favourite babe just to find out she's been sent from the future to murder you and destroy humanity. What a let down that would be!

This is the best appearance available at the moment, but they will get better very soon. Much better.

Does this change the meaning of "tool"?
