Thought Brazil V Chile was a great game and was surprised Chile hit the post with their last penalty Cesar was brilliant saving at least two (or was it three?) penalties.

Colombia were impressive in sending Uruguay packing!! Rodriguez is probably going to win the Golden boot now unless Neymar can score again. Full expect Mexico and Greece to win their matches respectively today, though I think Greece will find Nigeria very resilient and hard to break down.

After watching the match between Brazil & Chile I don't feel so dispondent about England's future in football.
Both teams played direct English style football, both had very little in attacking talent and both teams took penalties like an England team.

yeah david luiz was playing longball passes all the time. the german manager have said they started to develop a more english direct style to there team as well just as we are going continental they are all going english lol

Just listening to Sportsweek on 5 live with Graham 'Turnip' Taylor and Steve @Wally' McClaren. Just wonder how much difference it would hve made if the PL & Fa were one body.

You fully expect Mexico to beat the Netherlands? That's a confident statement. While they stand a chance of winning I'd say the Dutch are favourites for this match with their squad.

Fred is a Striker and didn't play in the full match, he was substituted just after half time, leaving a lot of time he was not on the field, and considering the full match included extra time and penalties this is a lot of time where he couldn't touch the ball,

So your stats claiming Fred is usually quiet by the number of touches he had during the game give false reading...

You're right, there is a much better example.

In the opening match of the tournament Brazil's players had 692 touches of the ball against Croatia, with Fred, who played the whole match, having only 20 of those.

It's doesn't matter how little times Fred touches the ball, he is a striker, it's not his job to track back and run with the ball, it's his job to stay up the top end of the pitch... he could touch the ball only 3 times in a match and score 3 goals... that would be a 100% conversion rate and probably get man of the match award in most games. You can't just base everything on meaningless stats..
