Enjoyable second half between Ghana and the USA.
Ghana working tirelessly to get back into the game with a well crafted equaliser only to ruin all their hard work by conceding from a corner late on.

Yes of course I know that, but it was claimed that the matches were being played in the order that they were drawn.

Surely the draw for the second round of matches didn't take place before the first round draw was complete?

There was only one draw. The entire match schedule was worked out in advance of that draw, with the teams in each group being designated team 1, team 2, team 3 and team 4. When the draw mas made to put the teams in the 8 groups, each team underwent a second draw to determine which of the teams 1 to 4 they would be in the group. For example, when Croatia were drawn in Group A they were then drawn as team 2, which meant they took the fixtures of team 2 in the already existing match schedule.
