yes he was in torchwood children of earth as a government minister and was in fires of Pompeii which also had Karen gillan in before she became amy pond

That's just the problem the BBC have had with Dr Who. It is more than just a kids tv programme. It was originally made with older children in mind but it straight away became popular with people of all ages. Millions of people have their own favourite Doctor, usually one they grew up with. Even when it seems to be bad people still watch it, hoping it will get back to how they remember it. I doubt it would have lasted 50 years if it was just a kids programme.

Adults may like it, but it's still a kids programme and has to be aimed for kids.

One problem I had the with the Russel T era he was too found of pushing his beliefs in to the scripts, which where too adult in my mind for a kids programme. There where elements of pushing his athiesm and homosexuality. This is still happening and is probably why a lot of people don't like the story lines.

I was surprised. He's a likeable guy, I think big razzmatazz reveal shows like that are a by-product of the general malaise in television (i.e. it gave BBC1 nice ratings for a Sunday night)

I don't think Capaldi is likely to kicking Moffat in the balls that much, though.

I've always said 'The Thick of It' was godawful. Like James Marsters, come to think of it.

No it shouldn't be aimed just at kids. Come on - a red lobster under a dress? Really? It was laughable and totally wrong. That was not suitable entertainment for Saturday night tv. A cute lobster might appeal for kids - and if that's the case - then the kids can keep it. Put it on Saturday morning if its just for kids, not Saturday evening. Seriously - better storylines are needed. More scares, more dangerous situations, more content to make the tv licence worth paying for.
