RE: Liverpool FC
Saw this on RAWK earlier, thought i'd share.

This is from Al Jazeera Sports, which is owned by the Qatari Royal Family, the same owners as Ooredoo.

The link below is in Arabic but has quotes from a director in the company which I translated below.

"The goal was to sponsor a big English club with a huge history, our search included Arsenal & Manchester United but the former two have long sponsorship deals and the same applies to Manchester City so Liverpool is the only club available right now."

"We want to sponsor the club in full. We want to sponsor the Stadium as well as the club's kits. Our goal is to reach the Asian markets where the Premier League has an enormous fan base."

"We received the tender from the club a few days ago and we are currently in the process of due diligence and we are studying each aspect of the study."

"It is a dual interest, Liverpool needs the money to compete with the European heavyweights and we want to expand our brand to reach new markets via football."

Any deal to sponsor our kit will have to wait till the 2014-15 season when the Standard Chartered deal runs out so no silly signings in the summer.

This story only seems to be on Liverpool fan sites. [Image: chin.gif]

I hope we do get investors with a little more ambition than FSG soon, i thank them for saving us but we need to make the next steps soon with wealthier investors.

Until then i'd take Taarabt and Remy from QPR in the summer and use Andy in a deal for Ben Arfa? what do you guys think, could see these guys linking up very well with coutinho suarez sturridge and that man assaidi where ever he is?

They're only sponsors mate, not looking to buy the club. Who knows in the future though, anything can happen these days.

I want Andy Carroll back in the squad, say it every day it feels like. I'd take Loic Remy, looks a real decent player, pacey and can finish.

On the fence with Ben Arfa... Don't want us ending up with too many similar types. If the Eriksen rumours are true then I'd much prefer him to Ben Arfa, don't need both for me.

Gaston Ramirez, Toby Alderweireld. Like the pair of them.

Im on the fence with Andy at the minute, If he came back with a point to prove and was scoring every week i wouldn't have a problem, but if I had a choice between Remy and Carroll i'd take Remy as I think he has Andys power but more ability and pace on the ball too and seems more composed.

I could also see Ben Afrfa down the right for us with Coutinho on the left. Would much prefer Ben Arfa or Taarabt to Downing who just seems to want to do the same thing all the time which is run to the edge of the box and cut in time and time again, but he seems like to me he doesn't have any ideas and not confident enough in himself, where as Arfa and Taarabt even Assaidi look like they believe in their abilities and look very lively. I wish we see more of Assaidi, every game I saw him in in the europa he had defenders on the back foot and was beating them with ease yet he never seems to get a game.

The comments in the judgement are interesting. It looks like what really did for Suarez was Liverpool's contention that biting an opponent should only warrant a 3 match ban. It looks like the disciplinary committe decided to bump the ban up because of that remark, to make it clear how strongly they disagreed with that claim. In short, if Liverpool had handled it differently the ban could have been significantly less.

So I take it I'm the only one who feels he deserves the ban he got ?

Please don't take Ben Arfa.

Eriksen would be a good buy for Liverpool, but I hear Borussia Dortmund are interested in him as well as a replacement for Gotez.

Should be a good game tomorrow. Its rarely dull when they these two teams play each other.

Lets hope its another liverpool 4-3 newcastle Big Grin

In my opinion, he got a 10 match ban because outside influences, for example the media and cameron. Why cameron got involved i dont know he should be more worried about sorting the country out than what suarez did. Everytime suarez coughs on another player the media have a field day. They will drag this story on for weeks and when liverpool face chelsea next they will drag it up again. bladewave
