The Dictator 8.5/10. Very funny, completely offensive...well worth a look if you like Sacha Baron Cohen.

future sport, a slight rip off of roller ball but still an ok film.

roller ball (remake), gratuitous violence.

the game plan, the girl who play payton steals every scene she is in even when it has dwayne johnson or roselyn sanchez.

longest yard (remake),

waterboy

later before the super bowl, any given sunday and grid iron gang.

Centurion (2010)

The disappearance of Rome's Ninth Legion of Caledonia is a good topic to base a film on. I've always had a particular interest in the Roman Empire so was excited to put this in. Unfortunately, I don't think it works. I was frustrated by the inability to empathise with the characters and a number of inaccurate and quite frankly stupid scenes during the film. Perhaps The Eagle, another movie about this particular chapter in Rome's history, will be better. Can only go for 2/5 for Centurion.

I am sorry to disappoint but Centurion is a better movie in my opinion. As a fan of history I share your misgivings over accuracy but as a movie I found this to be far more entertaining than The Eagle.

x-men first class. a very good addition to the xmen franchise. good performances in particular from james mcavoy as professor x, michael fassbender as magneto/erik lensherr and jennifer lawrence as raven darkholme/mystique. explains how the feud between the xmen and magneto's brotherhood of mutants started

also a couple of very nice cameos from hugh jackman as wolverine and rebecca romijn as mystique

9/10

Wreck It Ralph. Pretty cool film. Fun finding all the cameos and references from other games.

The Last Stand

A hugely entertaining action movie, with great shootouts and car chases, and a good central performance from Arnie, well worth watching. 8/10

The Impossible (2012)

Obviously any film about the sad events of the 2004 Thailand tsunami disaster on Christmas Day is going to hit a nerve or two. This focuses largely on one family - the mom, dad and their three sons - on holiday there at the time. Scenes of almost unrelenting sadness reduced some of the other cinema goers in the house to wrecks. I was a bit bleary eyed too. Very difficult to watch in many parts, but that of course is the idea. I believe it only received one Oscar nomination - Naomi Watts for Best Actress - but I hope she wins it. 3 or 4 / 5
