RE: Liverpool FC
We've struggled to score goals for 3 or so seasons now & I don't see this season being any different given the start we've had & the squad we've got.

I can understand the passion & optimism but we need to be realistic. Last 2 season we've been way off & the squad we've got this season isn't blessed with goals.
Just try & look at it from an outside view for once rather than giving it the same old, yeah this players looks a world beater & this youngsters got great potential. I just don't see us having enough clear goal scoring chances to finish teams off. You need to remember we're at our best in the big games i.e. City when the opposition comes at us so we can break & get into their box, we struggle to break teams down when they invite us onto them, so this passing & possession style is just gonna let teams sit in front of us & say go on then lets see what you can do, going on the 1 experienced striker we've got who misses more than he scores we probably won't do much. Realistic!

He does this every now and again mate...Rolleyes

The youngsters we've got do have bags of potential Mitchell, they're worthy of excitement from the fans. Sterling, Morgan, Yesil, Shelvey, Suso. Damn right!

The old "better against the top teams" argument doesn't float anymore for me and were "better with teams coming onto us" leaving more space to exploit. Both are outdated i think. We're under a new manager now who's philosophy is to dominate possession of the ball and build up attacks from the back, with patience. He wants us to kill teams with possession, death by football Rodgers calls it. Nothing there about soaking up pressure and breaking, that's all gone. We're gonna dominate the ball in most games this season. Create, don't wait. That's our philosophy now.

Give it time to work. Go listen to the podcast i told you about.Wink

I'm not saying they're not but they aren't gonna be firing us to glory this season, why isn't Adam Morgan in the match day squad every week or better getting Premier League games like Sterling, he played against Hearts & played right of the 3, he's an out & out striker so he should be played down the middle, Suarez is more suited to the left.

"Death by football", thats just to grab headlines & to get over enthusiastic fans like you two falling over themselve with excitement. Come on thats true, why aren't the rest of them on here having a say, do they agree with me or like you Scouse, thinking here he goes again. Rolleyes

Kill teams with possession, Death by football, Create, don't wait, did The Sun come up with this shite! They sound like something Mr Truth would come up with alongside his walk through the storm funny.

If all these phrases were that magical they'd have been used by Barca & Spain. Rodgers has been watching these two too much & thinking it'll work the same in the Premier League, not on the same level it won't.
The current crop of Spanish players have been playing it for years & Barca have many of those players plus the little fella down the middle, we don't, teams in the Preimera Division don't attack Barca like Wigan, West Brom & Sunderland will attack, close down & pressure us, saying it'll take time is all well & good but without a goalscoring striker we ain't gonna be grabbing all 3 points with ease in many games. At this rate we look a 6th, 7th 8th placed team, thats not just to do with us, you've got to bring other teams into account, it's all well & good saying West Brom & Swansea won't carry on their starts but look at Newcastle last season!

For the record I'm not saying the style we're aiming for is shit, I'd much rather we have that, if we've got the ball the other team can't score, neither will we without a striker though, counting on Suarez is just silly he's our main central striker on name & rep, his conversion rate is shit, like I said he's better left of the front 3, we should try Borini or Morgan down the centre for 5 games to see how they bed in with cole & Sterling chopping & changing on the right.

Surely we've got to try & grab Theo Walcott for £6m in January, he wants to be a striker so he'd be straight in there with his pace & he'd also be able to swap with Suarez during the game.

Y.N.W.A....... Thought I'd type this to keep the Chuckle Brothers happy.

"Kill teams with possession", "Death by football", "Create, don't wait" - Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool FC Manager.

Saying the lad's phrases are to grab headlines is complete nonesense and just daft. The fella's as genuine and honest as they come. Anyone that's interviewed him says the same thing.

It worked last season. Swansea played some of the best football in the division. Brilliant to watch. We've got some brilliant ballers in the midfield now, players perfectly suited to the system. Allen, Sahin, Gerrard, Shelvey, Lucas and Suso who's gonna get his chance. Suarez, Borini, Gerrard, Sterling, Morgan and Yesil can hopefully get enough goals between them until January.

For me, Rodgers is a bit special, something about the man. If you underestimate him, you'll fall flat on your face.

RE: Liverpool FC
Incase people aren't aware BBC1 and ITV have scheduled a program each with the same name next week. The programs are by 2 different production teams and while the same name and same subject, are looking at the issues with slightly different angles.

If you want to watch they are on as follows:

Sunday 9th September - 10.25PM BBC1 Hillsborough - The Search for Truth

This is only being broadcast in the BBC northwest and Yorkshire regions. If you're outwith those regions you can watch on Sky Channels 956 and 958.

Monday 10th September - 10.35PM ITV1 Hillsborough - The Search for Truth

RE: Liverpool FC
I'm just sick of the same old shit with us giving it all the same old pre season bollocks, yeah me included then when it kicks off it's the same old story.

Death by football, come on if Villas-Boas said thet he'd be crucified!

Your getting me all wrong, I can't wait till he stamps his own style on the team but without that goalscorer who reagularly smashes in 25+ a season we're not getting back into the European Cup money pot.
Like I said it's not just down to how we play, you need to be looking at the ever expanding influence of the rest of the Pramier League, you mentioned Swansea, it was Roberto Martinez who started that Rodgers just carried it on the same as Michael Laudrup's doing. Look at how Wigan are progressing under Martinez, it's no fluke they keep staying in the Premier League, If Paul Lambert had stayed at Norwich both would have progressed this season. West Brom, Newcastle, Stoke.....

Dare I say it we need to look at Everton or Newcastle & buy an unknown or unfancied cheap option from around Europe.

La Liga 2011/12
Roberto Soldado - Valencia 17
Aruna Koné - Levante 15
Michu - Rayo Vallecano 15
^^^Both have just signed for Wigan & Swansea for around £3m
Alvaro Negredo - Sevilla 14

Bundesliga
*Martin Harnik - Stuttgart 17

Dutch Eredivisie
Dries Mertens (Winger) PSV 22
*John Guidetti - Feyenoord 20 in 23 (On loan fron City)
Ola Toivonen - PSV 18
Jozy Altidore - AZ Alkmaar 19
Tim Matavž - PSV 14
Siem de Jong (Attacking mid striker) Ajax 13

Primeira Liga Portugal
Rodrigo José Lima dos Santos - Braga 20
*Ricky van Wolfswinkel - Sporting Lisbon 14

Premier League Russia
Seydou Doumbia - CSKA 23 (50 in 64 for Young Boy in Switzreland, also a goal machine on Football Manager) Rolleyes
*Lacina Traoré - Kuban' Krasnodar 14 (FM goal machine)

Better still just spend upwards of £16m on Danny Sturridge before arsenal or Tottenham do!

* Possible Andy Carroll style, maybe better?

NO! Brandon you can't call me Mitch!
