Why are they torturing us like this one wonders, a lot of work and energy going into creating a babe show but it just doesn't have that fun factor about it anymore because of the Ofcom restrictions, I remember for a while that Ofcom seemed to be turning a blind eye during the summer of 2010, a hot one weather wise and a hot one babe channel wise too, watching the shows was an event, we still moaned to hell about the restrictions in place but the general feeling was that the rules were at long last relaxing, even in a survey on this forum the majority of people were more or less contented with the product onscreen, our demands about removing Ofcom were still as strong as ever however because we knew at the back of our mind that the good times wouldn't last and so it's proved.

Overall 2012 has been a miserable year so far for the babe channels, Ofcom parania has reached fever point. I have to admit I'm currently scanning through the channels and it's more or less wall to wall of shit, OK so it's a Monday night but why should the night of the week effect the product. If I went to watch my football team on a Monday night I would expect the same level of performance and entertainment as I would on a Saturday.

One thing that is guaranteed is that the day Ofcom do come crumbling down to their knee's will be the same day that the sale of Kleenex goes through the roof

Fuck me you have to laugh because humour is about the only thing left to get through this nights miserable viewing, now back to the National Geographic Channel for some late night documentries and this time it's the truth. I'm not tired yet but if I was I'd be switching the telly off because fuck all is worth staying up for as far as any erotic content is concerned all thanks to Ofcom

I have emailed our MP about Ofcom and I was surprised how much pressure has been put on him about rural Broadband and hes lobbying Ofcom right now..Todays prime ministers Question Time going mad about cuts to police when they can save miilions getting rid of Ofcom..This is off topic but anything absolute anything to fight and rid of Oftwats..Right they are cutting the Police when theirs no need if they got rid of ofcom..

Now a news story recently caught my attention involving Ofcom and SKY and it has got me a little bit worried to be honest. Ofcom have since day 1 wanted to rid SKY of the babe channels and if Ofcom shut SKY down then we could see an end to all the babe channels seeing as they all broadcast via satelite, maybe it's just me but this article making uneasy reading http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17919134

Will Ofcom take BSkyB's license away on the strength of the way Murdoch runs his newspapers? I just can't see it happening.
Think of the repurcussions if Sky shut down. The loss of jobs, not just at Sky, but at all the channels that broadcast on Sky. Think of the millions that Sky pump into sport, you think the football bodies would sit back and see their main source of revenue go down without some serious lobbying going on, you think Bernie Ecclestone wouldn't be poking his nose in to save his multi-million Formula1 contract.
Many companies advertise on the Sky channels, and rely on that audience, they wouldn't sit back and watch it go down without having some say.

Nope, too much at stake here. There are those who may use this as a further opportunity to stick the boot in on Murdoch, and maybe get him to take a less active role in BSkyB, but I can't see anything drastic happening.

Yep I agree there's to much money involved for starters, SB has got a point, however I agree with the previous post that if Sky shuts down the loss of income would run into billions of pounds. I guess we could all ask the question is sky to big to fall? well never say never, however there are a great deal of very influential high powered people lurking in the background who would say otherwise.

My view is that Ofcom are unlikely to close Sky. There has been a lot of talk saying that the DCMS Select Committee overstepped the mark and exceeded its remit by ruling that Mr Murdoch was "not a fit and proper person". Another criticism is that there was little in depth discussion of that point, it was supposedly sprung on the committee on the last day. (Or they chose to leave it that late depending on your viewpoint). It was a close vote on party lines which devalues it further.

Ofcom will take note but it is no binding.

Meanwhile Ofcom has to make a major decision based on evidence, not opinion, and as it relates to broadcasting, not general conduct. An adverse decision might be challenged in court. Their decision must be consistent with the law, general legal principles and decisions re other channels. Sport used to be heavily influenced by David Sullivan who was convicted of living off immoral earnings in 1982 and served 71 days in prison. Ofcom might regard that as ancient history. More damagingly he was part owner of Birmingham FC for many years and who knows what people with defacto influence over other channels have been accused of over the years.

Worst case is that it is only the lizard king himself who has been labelled unfit. A few board restructures in the layers of intervening companies to add independent directors and an undertaking not to meddle would satisfy the lawyers.

Even worse case, if Ofcom decide to go further than the DCMS Committee and declare the whole company unfit there is still a way forward - Sky could opt out of content production, hand that over the independents and concentrate on making money from the satellite platform. Thats sort of what they do anyway.

People like this piss me off, why wonder there is so much censorship on tv when fucking idiots, who have nothing else to do, but complain about pointless things. Like I said before these people should just pick up the remote and change the channel if they are not happy with what they see in a film or programme, don't drag the rest of us with you.

Today I read an article about how 4 people complained about nudity being shown on the Merchant of Venice on the BBC. Around 250,000 people watched this film last night and only 4 people had an issue with it. It frustrates me so much that such few people can wield so much power over the majority on what we can watch on tv, it disgusts me.

The good thing Dan is that the BBC cannot be fined or have any sanctions put upon them by Ofcom. The BBC is protected by the Government but it's a fucking sad day in society when you read bullshit like this. What's important in this country is the economy for starters, schools, hospitals and the police force aswell as tackling the issues of long term unemployment, that's what is important, not what we choose to watch in our leisure time. I work, pay my taxes so I'm entitled to have the freedom to choose what I wish to watch without some fascist organisation telling me otherwise

The BBC TV and radio channels have been found in breach by Ofcom many times and have had sanctions and fines given to them . The BBC has to adhere to Ofcom's rules just like other broadcasting company's .
