I wasn't saying make them our midfield now I was just saying that when Gerrard eventually retires that Spearing is the type of player that I want as our captain as he seems to truly love playing for this club.

As for who I think should play in midfield I would have Lucas or Spearing with Adam in the middle and Gerrard in front of them then an attacking three of Bellamy or Dirk on the right with Luis on the left drifting in with Carroll up front.

As for Henderson I thought we should'nt of bought him last summer and with Carroll I've thought he's just needed time to adapt to our playing style as with Newcastle he was was basically the man on the end of crosses all of the time not having the ball played to his feet that often.

Charlie Adam would have actually cost fuck all if his contract had run down which was why Blackpool actually sold him in the end.

To be an old school winger you need to have pace, a trick and a final ball in to the box. Something which Downing does not have any of.

Carroll is a big strong physical striker who requires service over the top and put wide to get the best put of him. If you play narrow and in to feet he will not look or be any good. I am sure he was not bought for those attributes but the ones i mentioned which he demonstrated so well at Newcastle.

I do agree the Carling cup is a poor reward for a such a season of expectation but would Arsenal give for silverware of any type which they have not had for six years.

I remember Hillsborough well I am old enough. He was amazing for the club and for football but that is not the basis for him being or remaining in this job.

Roberto Martinez is not a bad shout but he will need recruitment support above him they need to find a new Damien Camoli.

At least Demba Ba scores regularly. Papiss Cisse is just a better more dynamic player but how many goals have scored between them as opposed to our primary front two.

What was I supposed to be explaining exactly??? I was just putting my oppinion to other posts just like you've done & fair play.

We bought Charlie Adam in January as we thought he'd offer us what we needed for the remainder of the season & for a 26 year old & the passing qualities he has & how they benefited us with Xabi Alonso £9m isn't that bad a price considering he'll be on less than £40,000 a week.

I meant Downing is old school in the fact all he does is stick to the wing & isn't very good at cutting inside to offer a goal threat like Glenn Johnson does.

This is the style Luis Suarez plays & the way we're used to playing when we had Torres, along with injuries & the style you pointed out for Carroll is why Steven Gerrard hasn't been playing the way he did before Carroll arrived, our whole team except Carroll & Downing are better suited to a narrow ball to feet style & that explains a lot!

I don't get this bit? I was pointing out the press saying his LFC rep is being damaged but it's for the reasons I mentioned that his rep will never be damaged no matter what he does this time round.

Why a new Damien Camoli? we've never had one before & have had some quality players down the years, he didn't bring in Ian Rush, Jon Barnes, Sami Hyypiä, Jan Molby , Emlyn Hughes etc etc he did however bring in Stewart Downing & Andy Carroll!!!
