Surely bit of a non-story....unnamed sources, 'people close to...' etc Ususlly means a bored journalist with a deadline looming!

sources close to is as genuine as it gets. In the times of Yes Minister which was themed on how things run.

Surely it's genuine when it's announced, this story is just speculation at best, lazy journalism at worst.

The rally is probably not a great platform for him since people will have to pay in who would go and then he would spend the following weeks exaggerating about how many people showed up.

I'm not sure anyone in their right mind would pay to hear a politician (whatever their political persuasion) deliver a speech in this day and age.

I think it's entirely likely they want to keep him out of London. Massive protests outside Buck Palace would look bad for everyone. Windsor would be a much better venue for The Queen to receive him.
You're right, though. The rest is probably tosh.
Either that or it did come from the Whitehouse. Which means it's definitely tosh
