Moyes - How much time do they give him?

If they don't reach a cup final this season then I would say they will ask serious questions then!!

RE: Football Banter
But instead on panicking and sacking a good manager it would be more prudent to do what we should have done in the summer and bring in two or three quality players, certainly a defensive minded midfielder and a top centre back. Vidic is injury prone and aging and Ferdinand is well past his sell by date. Smalling is not the answer for sure. Moyes is a good manager who it must be remembered has at the moment an inherited team. He has to have time to develop his own team. The United board know this as do most of the United 'faithful'. Sure the prawn sandwich brigade will be restless but every top team has it's share of fickle, fairweather fans.
The team has needed strengthening for three or four years and it's testament to Ferguson that he had the ability to get so much out of the squad. Something Moyes is probably incapable of. Not sure who else is at this level.
My concern, which I mentioned in the summer is the lack of enthusiasm from the chief executive to invest in the squad. If we do not invest either in January or in the summer then we risk being a step behind the other top teams for a considerable time.

they should stick with him (moyes), he didn't become a bad manager overnight. anyone in the world would have struggled withe the utd job. Ferguson saw the writing on the wall and got out on top.

He has the official seal of approval from Fergie, so the fans are in a sort of bind. Shocked to hear about Van Persie this morning - wonder if he kept his return ticket Wink

RE: Football Banter
They'd be crazy to remove Moyes now. They've made their decision and now they've got to stick with it. He has to be given the money in the January window to get the quality signings he needs. But yes - I do also think that Ferguson sensed the good times were slowing down and he got out while he was still in charge of a winning side. Just have to wait and see about the RVP situation.

They need quality midfield players. I look at them this season and that's the area where it's breaking down - they're getting overrun. In times gone by it was never like that - they've historically had fearsome midfield players who could frighten the opponents before they even got on the pitch. That same fear factor isn't there anymore, teams are working out how to play them and RVP isn't the same force he was because of the lack of quality around him to supply his goals. Liverpool outlasted them, Chelsea and Arsenal should have beat them by a hatful. Man City blasted them off the park. And now Everton and Newcastle have rolled them over for the first time in 30 years and 40 years respectively. So they need to get that steel back in the middle of the park, attack minded and defensive minded midfielders are both needed.

Surely it's not going to be 3 losses on the bounce against Villa next week? That would be the lowest of the low. Wink

Not fancying our trip to Everton. Playing one of the in form PL teams in the Cup spells trouble. Two stand out ties for me;-
Man United & the NL London Derby tie. This might be AVB's only chance to seriously win domestic silverware this season aside from the Europa League. But even so I think Arsenal could be on course for another double.

RE: Football Banter
still early days for moyes and he should be given more time, but lets not forget time is no guarantee that things will get better and some managers do get the time but they still aren't good enough, man utd could still be a mid table side in two years time what do they do then, give him more time hoping that things might get better?
