Trump has rolled back the emissions regulations on new cars built in the US.

He says more polluting cars will be cheaper to build and people won't be encouraged to buy those nasty electric cars.

Elon will be pleased

Just read a report on a Ford EV plant in america, which has been shut down. Apparently they decided it wasn't viable because of tango's policies towards EV vehicles.
The plant had only been running a matter of months!

Great work. I guess you can balance the several hundred or more lost car production jobs against the few dozen extra jobs in demolition.
Alternatively, they could rework the plant to produce non-EV cars that no-one outside america will want to buy

In reality, Trump's announcement isn't likely to make a shit of difference to the cars.
Some of the states, California in particular, will probably adopt the old emissions regs at state level. Manufacturers aren't going to produce different spec cars for individual states.

And, in any event, they aren't going to spend millions re-engineering the cars when the regs could all be brought back in by a new administration in three years time.

No doubt the MAGA faithful will swallow it though.
