Adkins could soon come to a settlement with Southampton to end any period of Garden Leave and then take up the post at Reading if he wants the job that much.
A shame that Reading have not stuck with McDermott. I don't think he has done a particularly bad job, it's more a reflection of the quality of the squad (No offence to the Reading players or fans). It's one thing to be a top team in the championship and quite another to stay in the top flight.
The board of any team coming up from the Championship has to invest in quality recruits if they seriously wish to remain in the EPL. It doesn't matter who is the manager, when a team isn't significantly strengthened to cope over the course of a season then it will struggle.

Any manager that goes to reading because they want to be in the premier league will have 9 games in the prem at the most because the squad isn't strong enough at all and they haven't invested enough, owen coyle would be a good choice...

The Away goals rule shouldn't carry through into extra time. The team who play away from home first don't have the extra 30 mins to score.
