^ Is there a reason why you have made up A) because none of it represents what happened! I can only assume you have not seen the clip of what actually happened

Todd Murphy is on the tour as Australia’s spinning replacement for Lyon.
He's a 22-year-old who has been working with Lyon for just this moment.

I believe that Dan Lawrence is on standby for Olly Pope.

I haven't seen the incident SA, but I would say Carey dismissed him legitimately as ball was still in play and 'over' hadn't been called - but had Australia invoked a 'Mankad' on Bairstow it would haver caused a far bigger uproar. But fair play to Carey we had done similar.

I'm wondering if both England and /or Australia may go without a specialist spin bowler.
I often seen matches in the past where the seamers have dominated play.
I'm not sure that it's still the case today as wickets are worked on to make them balanced for batsmen, quick and slow bowlers.

Where's my Yorkshire cricket expert.

You don't know the laws of cricket then do you? Under law 20.5 the ball ceases to be dead (comes into play) when the bowler starts to run-up.

Headingley has always proven to be a happy hunting ground for seamers, but do think whoever wins the toss on day one has to seize the opportunity first day conditions offers. The whole series could rest on day one of this one. If we win toss I'd say we bat first and bat patiently.

A strange thing to say when Bairstow literally did the exact same thing, not just in the past, but in the exact same game. He tried to stump Labuschagne in the exact same way but his throw missed the stumps. Odd that there was no comment from Charlemagne about Bairstow's win at all cost policy.

^ I've not seen the vid of what you are refering.
But you have to ask if he had done exactly the same as Cairey, would he have appealed and would Stokes have removed the appeal, and would ever one of the England players have backed the captains decision.
I think not.

This has happened before, remember sandpaper gate (we won't do it again, sob, sob. We'll tidy up out game). Remember the pea roller incident by the Chappells off the last ball of the limited over match.
Then remember all the sledging that they give the opposition batsmen.
I chose my words carefully, I didn't use the cheat word, but I believe my win at all costs in the post was justified.

RE: Ashes in England 2023
I'm getting daft visions of Billy Bigbollocks going out to bat Tongue.
He decides that before venturing out of his crease one final time after each ball where runs are taken or not he will check with every fielder on the field and both umpires that the ball is dead.
Fielder 1: Do you agree the ball is dead?
I do.
Fielder 2: Do you agree the ball is dead?
Yeah I agree
Fielder 3: Do you agree the ball is dead?
Errrr yeah ok I agree
Fielder 4: Do you agree the ball is dead?
Sorry what was that, I didn't catch what you said because I was trying to find my sandpaper, sorry I meant Murray mints Big Laugh
etc etc etc X 11 fielders and 2 umpires

Over rates to about 5 an hour.

Bounce Bounce Bounce

Sorry I'll get my coat Tongue

Please note this post is NOT to be taken seriously Wink.

Bairstow actually tried it twice in that match, against Warner as well as Labuschagne. He's also been called out by Travis Head as having tried it against him in the first test, so that makes it 3 times in this series alone.

Incidentally, these kind of dismissals happen in grassroots cricket all the time, as wicketkeepers often throw the stumps down. It's interesting that some people find it hard to accept it when it happens in a Test match.
