RE: Football Banter
Suarez might go down a bit easy at times, but what he did at the weekend is no worse than this from Yaya Toure on the same day and i bet it's the first time most people have seen it.

He gets smashed all over the pitch evey week and refs give him nothing, because he's Luis Suarez. Defenders are brutal with him. They smash into him and just point and say " It's Suarez, he's cheated" It's a nonsense. He had a stone waller against Utd two weeks ago and another at Norwich last week and got nothing. How Robert Huth isn't banned for stamping on him is a disgrace. It's so easy for refs to give him nothing because of who he is.

On the world class thing... Of course he's world class. He's one of the best forwards in the world. If he can covert a higher percentage of his chances he'll get 30 goals season in season out with assists left, right and centre. Wouldn't swap him for anyone.

Quote:Newcastle have got a sponsorship deal with Wonga.com

Newcastle have attracted criticism for agreeing to be sponsored by a company which charges interest at 4,214 per cent, but at least the stadium won't be renamed 'The Wonga Stadium'.. But the name will be on their shirts..

Why is it all of sudden we are getting vilified for this sponsorship deal by the media when Wonga already sponsor Blackpool and Hearts? I didn't hear anyone question their morals, but now its seen as a disgusting act when we do it.

I don't know the ins and outs of what Wonga get up to and they may not be a friendly company, but why is there all of a sudden a tidal wave of anger towards us.

About fucking timeBig Grin

Actually people have contacted Blackpool to question their judgement in accepting sponsorship from this company. Blackpool is among the most deprived towns in England and has many vulnerable individuals beset by a whole host of issues, many of them Blackpool FC fans. Having a company that rips people off through exhorbitant interest rate charges sponsor the town's team does seem bad judgement...I suppose money is what matters in football though bladewave

It is strange how people have this view(myself included) on these money lenders but wouldn't question been sponsored by a betting company, who IMO do a lot more damage in poor areas than any money lenders could

Take it as a compliment. The reason Newcastle are getting slated so much is because they are a bigger club with bigger gates, and more media attention than those other two Smile

Very good point. Two businesses in particular are currently thriving in this economic climate, the pound shops and the betting shops. In my town, it seems every other shop on the high street is now a bookies, offering tea and coffee, and comfy couches, and goodness knows what else, to attract the gullible punters desperate to get that big win that will change their lives, and that's not to mention the corner shops selling lottery tickets and scratch cards!

Get rid of the yellow card for simulation, have an independant panel review incidents at a later date, and give guilty players a warning at first. Then if/when they re-offend, maybe start introducing fines, then bans.

But he doesn't convert a high % of his chances though. It's like saying if (for example) Ben Foster made more saves he'd be a world class GK. I am a fan of Suarez btw (as a player), he is potentially world class, but not at the moment for me

Suarez is unique, a one of a kind forward who creates chances for himself and others from absolutly nothing, he has more shots and creates more chances than any other player in the premier league i'd imagine. He's one of the best forwards in the world without question in my book.

He won the player of the tournament at last years Copa America. He scored 111 goals in 159 games for Ajax and he's one of four players to score over 100 for them, the other 3 are Cruyff, Van Basten and Bergkamp lad! Not a shabby list.Wink That says everything about the calibre of player he is. I guess the only way he'll convince any doubters is by scoring more goals for Liverpool.

I think he'll win the golden boot this year!

Looks like our new sponsors Wonga is causing a bit of conflict with our Muslim players, who may refuse to wear the sponsors on their shirts.

From the article.

Quote:Under Sharia law, Muslims must not benefit from either lending money or receiving money from another person - meaning that interest is prohibited. Interest is not paid on Islamic bank accounts or added to mortgages.

Even though I think he is a very good player, I have to agree with Phoenix he is not world class yet, but is more than capable of one day becoming world class.

Are we talking top 5,10 or 20? Hmm hard to know, would have to do a list in my head first.

Quote:Think he'll win the golden boot this year.

Hmm . . . I'm going to go for Van Persie again this year. But there are a lot of potential winners this season like Aguero, Tevez, Suarez, Jelevic, Torres, Ba, Rooney or Defoe.

I put Ba in there, but I'm not sure about that. He will probably do what he did last season and score 15 goals until Christmas and then Cisse will carry the baton and score 15 goals himself.

Its funny I didn't pick an Arsenal player in contention for the golden boot this season, I guess thats because all their goals scored will by various players and not just by one player scoring 20-30 goals like Van Persie did last season. Podolski is the only player in their team I see scoring over 20 goals, but they will still score plenty of goals.

He's one of the best 10 forwards in the world just now without a shadow of doubt for me mate and when he starts scoring more goals in the prem (25-30 a season) he'll be top 5 no problem. He's a defenders nightmare!Wink

He seems to put on the wrong scoring boots against NewcastleBig Laugh

My top 10 in no particular order.

Messi
Ronaldo
Falcao
Van Persie
Benzema
Aguero
Rooney
Tevez
Suarez
Cavani

I really feel awful leaving out Ibrahimovic, Llorente, Neymar, Sanchez, Gomez, Lewendowski and . . . Heskey.
